That's the one thing I didn't like about the most recent flashback showing how Don gets his job at Sterling Cooper. It was so lighthearted and whimsical--and succeeding in the attempt, for sure; but it was in stark contrast to all of the best flashbacks I remember from seasons past, which were depressing and yet compelling insights on Don's character. They make us empathize with him even if he is a bastard and alcoholic. I don't think they can dredge up any more of Dick Whitman's past; I guess we know all we need to, though maybe I'm speaking too soon.
