I guess. Erykah needs to change her show up a bit for die-hards who go to see her all the time, in different states during her tours. Does she not realize that she has fans who follow her like Deadheads followed the Grateful Dead around the country when they were on tour? Why doesn't she do African dance in her sets anymore? That was the best part of the Mama's Gun tour, and really and truly, EVERYTHING about the MG tour was f**king FANtastic. Plus, her sets are too d%2m short these days!!! It seems like she takes forever to come on stage, and by the time she comes out, two minutes later some guy is coming on the stage telling her her time is up. The opening acts need to cut their performances short, and there needs to be less of a break between whomever comes on before her, and her appearance. If she knows that she has to be off the stage at a certain time, and whatever time that is, she needs to be sure of it ahead of time, so that her fans don't feel like they wasted money and time waiting to see her, only to be short-changed. Last Spiritfest, Raphael Saadiq sang d&9m near his ENTIRE new CD, plus EVERY hit ToniToneTony ever had, strutted around stage showing how fly and clean his suit was (which it WAS, admittedly, but still), and then by the time Erykah came on stage, her set was hella short. Same thing @ DAR Constitution Hall. Same thing @ Pier 6. Same thing @ that R&B fest in Memphis last summer. Her show awhile back @ the Meyerhoff, she was pregnant, so she deserves some slack on that one. She's a great performer, but I wonder if she just does not enjoy it as much as she used to. Her shows seem more perfunctory now, whereas 'back n the day'(pun intended), you kind of got the feeling that you were watching her do something that she'd be doing anyway, whether you were watching her, or not, and whether she was making any money @ it, or not.
