Someone who's close to D'Angelo told me that the new album is almost done; final touches are being put on the record. Physically he's well, mentally he's trying to get himself together so that he can try to pursue his music career further. It seems he does not feel ready yet. Currently, he's touring from city to city with Michael Walsh (a track star) promoting high and middle schoolers to dream big.

This is just what I've heard, I don't know if any of this is reliable info. If anyone can confirm it or add something more it would be appreciated.

he hasnt been on tour in a while or been in the spotlight in a while.

they go around to different middle schools across the eastern seaboard and basically tell kids in elemetary/middle school why its important to stay in school.

It was a great thing he had going, but let's be honest. It's done. Let's be happy with the great LPs we got and keep it moving.

A little update :

According to Lindsay Guion, D’Angelo’s manager, no album will be released this summer. No collaborators have been confirmed. The artist is living in Richmond. He’s recording there and in New York City, and he will deliver the tracks to his record company by September.

Guion says they have just signed a contract for a U.S. tour that will begin around the holidays. So, the bottom line seems to be that nobody’s going to hear anything from D’Angelo at least well into the fall. That includes NEWSWEEK.

After repeated requests for an interview, D’Angelo’s rep finally offered to pass on a list of questions by e-mail with assurances that D’Angelo would actually provide the answers. After a day, however, his management backtracked to say the singer was unavailable until the album was finished.
