i have a soltuion:

1)You take the Mp3s you are choosing to share and send them to me via Yousendit or rapidshare or whatever.

2)I upload them to TheRootsarchive.com and only allow registered users to see them.

3)I give you the ability to create new accounts on TheRootsarchive.com and set the welcome message to instructions on how to download the Mp3s.

4)One week later I disable all the accounts and delete the Mp3s from the server.

And of course I will not keep the list of email address or in anyway send messages to those who register except one on how to download the files.

Let me know if that helps.

Alternatively, if you can not get your MP3 off your ipod let me know and maybe I can get some rare mp3s together and we send those to people.

considering he had to wait several motnhs to get the ipod, i have no problem waiting a few weeks to get some gems off it.

I can't find my minidisc player. That not only means that I can't rip the minidisc recorded stuff I've been sitting on for like 6 years, but that also means I don't know how else (without a huge wire) to rip the VHS stuff I'm sitting on (no laptop access, just a crapy Win98 desktop). I scoured the place for hours and found all these mini discs and all these VHS tapes, but now it all seems pretty useless. So that's the hold up. All this stuff is way across town at my parents place and I don't go there too much. I've got everything else lined up, but this one minidisc contains one of my knockout inclusions. If it weren't going to be such a bitch to email all couple hundred of you twice, I'd break this up into 2 installments, but alas, I gotta wait. I dedicated this weekend to finding that thing and I couldn't. I did gain some ground however in that I cleaned up the place so the next round or searching should go better.

Thanks to all the people who have had my back with this. It's a little annoying to hear whining when I'm doing this shit to be nice. *the good news is that I ripped everything and edited what I needed to.

*the bad is that is that its on my pops' crappy windows 98 computer and it currently won't boot up anymore.

*the decent news is that he's already ordered a new one, and is moving the hard drive over and everything is cool. It is however a waiting game.


but I should explain something... when I made this offer, I was not capable technologically in making good on this offer right then and there. I thought I would be able to, but then the computer situation went from sketchy, to bad, and now worse. Thing is, I had to make this offer when i did for the sake of helping game theory pre-order numbers. I know that's translated into people being getting angry about it, but you're getting something for nothing. It's not like I'm benefitting in ANY way from doing this. I was trying to drum up some excitment for the album as a sign of gratitude for receiving this amazing prize... I'm doing 90% of what I can to get these files to you as soon as I can. The 10% accounts for being dead tired after work and having fun.

- put cd in and type this in the boot menu: slax copy2ram eject
it'll copy the disk to RAM and then once its done eject the disk and free it up if you only have one cdrom drive.
- now you can view anything on the hard drive

for burning the mp3's to a disk.

Audacity worked initially, but since I ran into trouble with my built-in webcam/microphone and had to reinstall the devices. Now audacity is having trouble. When I click record, exponetial feedback builds up. If I didn't click stop withint 4 seconds it feels like I'd blow my system. When settings do I need to record from the line in? I'm working on Vista. Since I'm not at home, I can't tell you exactly what options and deviced I'm working with, but can someone who wants these mp3s to see the light of day agree to help me out tonight when I get home. This has been a delay for about 3 weeks now, and I just can't fix it on my own.

I remember I ordered shirts off this dude like x-mas of 2005 when I was still living in Cali. He asked me if I would mind getting the shirts a little after x-mas since he was swamped. I told him I wouldn't since it wasn't a gift, and really how long could it possibly take.

Bad idea. I didn't end up getting those shirts until a year later...literally. I got them like December of 2006 just in time for x-mas again haha. Whole time dude was talking about how he got in a car accident and how his grandma was sick. I was so pissed that I tried to report him a bunch of times to pay-pal since I already paid, but they couldn't do anything about it.

Anyways, moral of the story is I expect we will get our "rare-ass" mp3's just in time for the Root's next cd to come out or when d'angelo releases his next album or when blackstar comes out with a new joint
