I feel both sides on this. He has been a monument, and has obviously developed talent, influenced tons. Styles are different now though, different techniques, different energy.

for anyone who cares his new instrumental album is out on May 13th. His instrumentals are quality no doubt, no matter what you feel bout his MPC tutorial, you cant call these instrumentals shit--

is this new pete rock instrumentals album coming out on nature sounds?
because i couldn't find any info on it anywhere.
and by the way, pete rock is a living legend. nobody layers samples like him.
truthfully, i wasn't terribly impressed by NY's finest, but petestrumentals and mecca and the soul brother are brilliant pieces

Don't be ignorant and diss one of the best hip hop/jazz producers of this time. Pete is still the man, whether he uses the MPC or whatever he uses..It would be a great day when OKP cats could refrain from such antics...'spress your opinion without being malicious...PETE ROCK..I'm Still #1....
7513, malicious? oh, you haven't seen malicious
Posted by buildingblock, Wed Jun-07-06 02:24 PM
first of all, ain't no sacred cows to me in hip hop
second, i wasn't impressed
i can't express that now?

Key word..express..to demean in the attempt to express thwarts the act of expression is all I am saying..and it is opinion..all good to me..I am not making Pete's dough nor on his payroll..but he is one of the best to do it no matter what his method..Peace
7592, me either

People still worshipping Pete Rock need to move on. There's no future in what he's doing anymore.

definitely a matter of opinion..he is still relevant...relevant in the sense that he is a part of hip hop history and the works he has done are also a part of that history..let that be what it is for what it is worth and let his future works be what they are..Peace..

By the way: There are many new jack cats in the game that could take a lesson from Pete, Marley in his hey, Prince Paul and many more of the cats from the yesterday of hip hop...opinions are opinions, but dude can surely still hang...
7573, u wish u could.
