91776, You're spot on. Don't let these cats make you feel otherwise.

You didn't know what you started because I've
been making the exact same arguments as you did
on here for years.

The reason why I'm so persistent is that when I originally
asked the same question you did, everyone flew in here on
some SUPER "holier than thou" bullshit trying to clown me
for "not getting it" and all sorts of bullshit.

Its not you, and you're not alone.

A handful of people think for themselves.

A small handful, but they exist.

>I watched this like 4 years ago or something and afterwards
>didn't see why so many people hype it like they do. I was
>expecting it to be the shit and I was really disappointed.

Yep

I
>just wanted to know how much in the minority I was in my
>opinion of the movie. It wasn't all that exciting to me and
>Sam Jack's character was not any more gangsta or cool than a
>lot of characters in other movies.

Exactly. Sam Jackson's character really was not very
special or cool. Never quite got the fascination.

The two explanations I get are:

1)"Gosh, he was cool because he was, so shush"

or

2)He was a metaphor for Moses or something retarded
like that. Lol.

Neither are good explanations.

In truth, there was nothing great about his
character, at all.

> Why do people think he's so
>cool? The story wasn't that captivating, but I guess what did
>it for people was its originality and "style", or whatever.

But it wasn't original nor specifically stylistic.
There are dozens of movies that had better style
that I've never heard lauded the same way.

>It's just my opinion, but I do think a lot of people believe
>it's the shit because it's so popular. I don't see how this
>movie is not overrated. It's sorta like Boondock Saints, just
>on a grander scale (the difference being BS was pretty good).
>What I'm saying is, what the fuck is SO damn great about this?

My man - I'm feeling you.

>And I don't think it can be attributed to a "cult" thing,
>because PF is beyond that, IMO. If someone could really
>explain further on why this film is so appealing to so many
>people, I'd appreciate it. I'm not hatin on it, I just don't
>really like it and have trouble seeing why so many people do.

No one has ever been able to, so you're not going to
get a straight answer here.

Film opinions are infectious, even when they are false.
The 'Pulp Fiction' as masterpiece idea swept through the
population like Plague, homie. I remember a girl
from college who had the poster in her room and hadn't
seen the movie. Why? Because it was cool to be into
'Pulp Fiction'. Just one of those things.
