don't know where you've been, but Pulp Fiction was wildly (over-)praised for its music... so have been subsequent QT films, but Pulp in particular was singled out for its "brilliant" and "eclectic" soundtrack, time and again.

the soundtrack was a staple in every college student/hipster CD collection in the 90s.
