>Your main "point", if we can call it that, is that the movie
>sucks and everyone likes it only because it's cool to like
>Pulp Fiction. Because "pop culture" told them it was good.

Actually, I have many points, good ones.

You are just honing in on that one because its the
one that makes you the most uncomfortable, probably
because something I said is true.

>But he is sitting there telling you that he saw it with no
>expectations, no hype, no critics and no pop culture telling
>him it was something special... just him watching a movie.

Okay, than he likes it without the dumbass influences
of people. His opinions are still unsubstantiated, and
he still DISAGREES with Soulhonky and company who say that
its good because its simple, fun, slick and humor.

This cat is talking about its a brilliant profound
movie that will be remembered for generations.

I'm saying that it certainly does not deserve to be.

And you all forget that the hype for Pulp Fiction
actually began BEFORE it came out.

It wasn't an arthouse movie, at all.

The shit was at many major theatres and made good
doe at the box office, especially when you consider
it being rated R and all.

>And he was basically blown away by a great fucking movie. As I
>was. As were thousands of other moviegoers when the movie came
>out.

No, you weren't.

There is nothing about it worthy of being "blown away"
by.

Ask Sanjuro(who liked it).

Ask Soulhonky(who liked it).

Ask Frank Longo(who liked it).

None of the above think it had any depth to it.

>How did the movie get that supposedly undeserved praise and
>acclaim in the first place?

Ever hear of hype?

It happens, you know.

Happens to all sorts of shit that doesn't deserve it.

Hell, 'American Beauty' has an Oscar for best picture,
for god's sakes.

>But to claim that people "make up reasons" to like it because
>they want to be cool hipsters and fit in with popular culture
>--- that argument has no weight whatsoever.

Sure it does.

It has plenty of weight.

As for you all who were "blown away" the first time...well...
you guys are worse, since you are the ones who STARTED
the hype bandwagon that an entire bandwagon decided to hop on.

You're no better.

>So WHY would they "make up" reasons to like the movie?

Because people like you had already manufactured it
as a masterpiece for no reason.

>And who the fuck are you to tell someone which reasons for
>liking something are valid, and which are "made up"? (answer =
>no one special, but clearly someone who's self-deluded to the
>contrary)

I've been plenty fair.

In THIS VERY THREAD I got about 8 different opinions on
why it was good.

Some of the people WHO LIKE THE FILM say that peopel who
think its anything more than a fun, slick movie are "idiots."

That would be you, DonKnutts, and this Damaja cat.

And mind you, a FELLOW PULP FICTION FAN SAID THAT.

Not O_E.

So be mad at your fellow fanboys.

>Use of the word "zeitgeist" aside, I agree pretty strongly
>with virtually everything homie said.

Yeah, that Zeitgeist shit was forgettable. I'm glad you
thought it was as retarded as I did.

>And I'm already done arguing with you. You rarely make cogent
>points, yet spend an excessive amount of time congratulating
>yourself anyway.

Yeah, well, I'm nice with mines.

And I do make cogent arguments, and you know that.
