because he's calling his opinion a fact and backing it up with more opinion i didn't see pulp fiction in the theater but i know what you're talking about in terms of the critiques that came after the oscars on some bandwagon type shit but if you concede that the critiques themselves aren't all bullshit, then that's a moot point it's all relative to which articles, books, essays or whatever else you're referring to like the observation of the film's repeated technique of extending dialogue that builds anticipation for climactic scenes legitmately makes the movie funnier and better to some people to some people it makes it boring and random but that's an observation that a lot of writers write about that isn't bullshit while all the shit about the suitcase having some magic power is clearly overanalysis every movie is subject to that but i personally can't buy that the movie's total success rests solely on some grand accident of gross misinterpretation, flashy style, oscar race marketing, and bandwagon popularity i think that some of it was deliberate on taratino and co's part
