he's thinking about doing a movie about slavery in the south, in the plantations, exploring a topic that mainstream american culture rarely faces up to, but framing it as a spaghetti western

obviously he's not actually made this film , but it demonstrates the idea of using b-movie culture as a FILTER through which a broader human/historical issue can be examined

i mean, Tarantino is up on this stuff. He reads subtextual film criticism. He even plotted Death Proof, his most blatantly 'depthless' film, in response to some analysis he'd read about slasher movie conventions (he aimed to undermine the conventions)
