Um, how about this one:

Action films are *always* supposed to be over the top,
because that is why we go and watch the motherfuckers.

'Diehard' - completely over-the-top and ridiculous. The good
thing is, its brilliant, and well written, so the over the
top-ness is in a context such that we don't just walk out
of the theater thinking we saw a film that took place on
Middle Earth.

Same with most of the shit in 'Lethal Weapon'.

Same with 'The Last Boyscout'

For you to deny that is just to be a childish little
bitch all because I've shat all over your favorite movie.

Say you don't like 'The Last Boyscout' more than 'Pulp
Fiction'. You'd be wrong, but it'd be okay.

Don't say, however, that action films aren't supposed
to be over-the-top, and don't, at all, say that over-the-
topness can't be well written enough that its sensible
and enjoyable.

And the thing about that scene in 'The Departed', what
makes it so terrible and horrible is this:

IT WASN'T A STUNT, or an ACTION SEQUENCE. If it some
really crazy action sequence, it might have been over
the top, but as long as it was written well and in
context, we could have all just written it off to
it being a film and still enjoyed it.

That wasn't what happened in 'The Departed'. It was
an ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL SCENE IN THE ENTIRE FILM, and
they resolve it through magical Star Wars text messaging
powers!!! <----FUCKING PATHETIC

And that is nothing like 'The Last Boyscout'.

Coked-out, drugged-out player in a corrupt league?

Meh.

over-the-top, but the ingredients for all of the above
actually exist:

Gambling has ruined sports and athletes before.

Drugs have ruined sports before.

Football players have carried shit onto the field.

It was completely over the top.

Just the way it was supposed to be.

It didn't, however, defy fundamental laws of physics,
eyesight, and text messaging ability though.

Say word?

Not exactly what I said, but do you.

>end so I'll just stop.

Okay, good for you.
