Vanilla Sky.

Shit ended up all being fake and none of it happen.

you watch the whole movie wondering what hell is going on and then they cop out and say it's all fake. none of this happened. it was run by a virtual reality company.

a close second would be matrix: revolutions and planet of the apes (tim burton ver.).

90639, Planet of the Apes Tim Burton ending was FAR worse than Vanilla Sky.
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Jan-04-07 01:14 AM
At least that seemed somewhat consistent with the rest of the film. Copout? Sure. But a consistent copout.

Planet of the Apes came out of FUCKING nowhere. Awful, awful, awful, awful ending.

I also hold a special place in my heart for the ending to A.I., a film I feel would have been TERRIFIC were it not for the ending. Had they ended with the robot frozen underwater staring at the blue fairy, it would have been the type of ballsy unsettling ending that Spielberg hadn't given us since Raiders of the Lost Ark. Instead he had to make it happy, when the whole movie indicated otherwise. FUCK THAT.

I am a huge Matrix fan but realistic to admit that the sequels were disappointing. I thought the ending to revolutions was one of the few things that made a little sense, and you could see it coming. Now that I believe the Wachowski brothers didn't write the first but the last two I understand how it went all crazy. But Vanilla Sky OWNS this post fa real!

For that reason, I'm inclined to give its ending the benefit of the doubt and
say that, because it was no worse than anything else in the movie, that I can't
say its ending was specifically bad.

90715, I didn't see it as that at all (SPOILER)
Posted by SoulHonky, Thu Jan-04-07 03:21 PM
Denzel realized early on that it wasn't about a robbery "This ain't no robbery!" and in the end figured out that the whole thing was a scheme to bring light to a bigger crime. Clive Owen was more vigilante than mere criminal and even did Denzel a solid by giving him one of the diamonds to give to his girl (I believe they had a discussion about it earlier in the film).

I saw it more as a "You deserve this" than a "Fuck you I outsmarted you"

either way, i liked the movie, and i was fine with the ending.

90718, naw, he had to do it that way because (Spoiler)
Posted by Smoody, Sun May-13-07 05:21 PM
it wouldn't have been pimperish otherwise. The whole notion of the film was that he had planned the perfect crime & that included evading capture even after several direct confrontations with the pursuer.

Plus, he bragged earlier in the film, he was just going to walk right out the door.

as everyone else up said, I don't think he was giving him the diamond just to rub it in his face. but I think that was a little part of it, but not the main part. And not so much to rub it in his face, more like to big-up his own skill.

COSIGN

And what makes it even worse is it could've been ill, and all out battle between the alien and the lil bro w/the bat. Instead the alien just stands there and gets his ass whupped.

WTF?

super-intelligent beings who get killed by water would probably be more prepared for traveling trillions of light years on their technologically-advanced space ships to invade a planet which is 75% water...like by putting on some clothes or armor...or by going to a waterless planet.
