This was supposed to be the money shot like the Will Smith/Martin Lawrence shot in Bad Boys, and while that one was cheesy-yet-appropriate, the shot here was completely unnecessary...
It would almost be like if they hired Spike to direct a Transformers movie and in the middle of the action he'd cut to his famous dolly shot -- with Optimus Prime on the dolly.
