You and I both understand this to be true, but...

You and about everyone else online seems to think t hat the cartoon is the only source material to pull from... and it isn't.

Marvel had a good run in the 80's and early 90's with TF comics. They actually outlasted the TV show and featured the characters in more mature/dramatic settings.

There are some things that needed changing (vehicle modes dues to restrictions from auto makers, some plot devices) but it wasn't totally broken to start with. It just needed a little updating.

These cats that made the film tossed out damn near everything but some character names and the warring factions.
You'll see, if you go check it in theaters...

A lot of what made the original premise work got dropped like a bad habit, all in the name of "updating".
