just pop in the "Transformers: The Movie" VHS & pretend this never happened.

That's my plan.

They just tried too hard to modernize it & make it appeal to today's kids or something. For everybody saying "kids can't relate to tapedecks in 2007".. well, they could make the movie's timeframe the 80's, easy problem to solve. And about things being unbelievable... c'mon, gotta point to the same point they're making -- yep, it is based on a cartoon, it is based on fantasy & with all those things aren't you already suspending a certain amount of belief anyway so, what's the difference if it's for a giant robot that turns into some tiny object or any other fiction-based thing? Either way, that ish don't appeal to me very much aside from the name, "Transformers"

Face it, the franchise just got butchered on this one.
