42449, very enjoyable movie Posted by dro, Sun Aug-20-06 11:00 PM
i liked it. it was funny, but naturally so, and not "artsy"/ pretentious like i was expecting (when you've got sufjan playing in your trailer, a red flag goes up). all the characters were great, and this is defnitely one of the better new movies i've seen in a while.
the crowd in the theater was real diverse, too. with a movie like this (sundance cred, critical acclaim, and again, sufjan providing the soundtrack (does anyone know if that was his work throughout the whole movie? i recognized chicago, but none of the other pieces.) i was expecting a younger, art-film audience. but there were a lot of older people, actually. the theater we went to is also brand new and pretty big, and they had 2 theaters dedicated to the movie at 2 in the afternoon, and one was sold out. but the crowd was real into it, and everyone enjoyed it.
go see it.
