U know this is a requirement 4 PTP right?

38370, I keep trying to rent it
Posted by McDeezNuts, Fri Nov-18-05 01:16 PM
But my wife knows it's a heavy movie so she wants to wait to rent it for when she's in the right mood for it. However, usually when we hit the video store we're not in that kind of mood...
38371, okay...
Posted by AFKAP_of_Darkness, Fri Nov-18-05 12:27 PM
Fight Club - love the first 40 minutes or so, the rest... enh.
Donnie Darko - i enjoyed it. probably like the *idea* of the film more the film itself
Pulp Fiction - i love it, but nowhere near as much as some people do. and it took me a while to really feel it the way i do now.
Star Wars episodes I - III - it's cool nostalgia. i have no desire to watch any of those movies now, though (EDIT: oh wait... eps I-III are the NEW films, right? shows how out of touch i am... i haven't even seen those ones)
Crash - the Cronenberg film or the Haggis one? hated the former (though the novel it was based on was my favorite book for years). the latter was okay, but i wasn't blown away
War of the Worlds - the Tom Cruise film? haven't seen it.
Napoleon Dynamite - love it.
Lord of the Rings trilogy - never watched it entirety. the little i've seen of two of the films was boring
Sin City - the movie? ummm... didn't love it. didn't hate it. not sure i actually *like* it, but... i dunno.
Matrix series - never got past the first 1/2 hour of the first one, despite several attempts. this film epitomizes so much i hate about contemporary cinema
Memento - somehow manages to be simultaneously overrated and underrated. anyway, i didn't love it
City of God - love it
Lost in Translation - i loved it the first time i saw it, when i thought it was just a small movie that nobody would see. when it started getting awards thrown at it, it made me like it less in a way
Scarface - thought the cussing and violence was cute when i was 11. watched it again when i was 15 and thought it was retarded. today, i enjoy it for its camp quality
Training Day - never seen it in full... wasn't particularly interested in what i did see, though it seems like a good flick

Family Guy - love it, but it's also overrated
Simpsons - haven't cared about it in... 5 years maybe? occasionally still watch it and laugh, though
Aqua Teen Hunger Force - love it. good thing it's only 15 minutes, though
Arrested Development - love it
Lost - just getting into it and liking it quite a bit
The Office, American and British - love both
CSI (original and spinoffs) - never seen 'em, don't want to
Sopranos - love it. possibly the best American television show in history
Wonderfalls - didn't catch it. gonna check the DVD out one of these days
Freaks and Geeks - love it
Undeclared - love it

Marvel vs DC - don't have a real company loyalty, especially now that most of my favorite creators shuttle back and forth between the two, but if i'm really honest with myself, deep down i'm still a DC head
Batman and prep time - love it

Harry Potter (books and/or movies) - saw the last movie; hated it. read part of the first book and loved it, though it reminded me a lot of DC's "The Books of Magic"

George W. Bush (just curious) - ha ha ha
38372, RE: okay...
Posted by McDeezNuts, Fri Nov-18-05 12:50 PM
>Lord of the Rings trilogy - never watched it entirety. the
>little i've seen of two of the films was boring

There are definite slow parts, especially at the beginning of Fellowship. But to me the payoff was worth it and then some.

>Matrix series - never got past the first 1/2 hour of the first
>one, despite several attempts. this film epitomizes so much i
>hate about contemporary cinema

What does this mean? I thought the first one was brilliant, and the latter two seriously tarnished the legacy because they made no sense.

>Scarface - thought the cussing and violence was cute when i
>was 11. watched it again when i was 15 and thought it was
>retarded. today, i enjoy it for its camp quality

I didn't see it until I was an adult, and I couldn't see what the fuss was about. Sure it's violent and kinda cool, but it's not on the level of Goodfellas, Sopranos...

>Family Guy - love it, but it's also overrated

I think it's one of the funniest shows around, but I know it's definitely not for everybody.

>Aqua Teen Hunger Force - love it. good thing it's only 15
>minutes, though

Good point. I don't have cable so I didn't see it until a friend had the DVDs. Then we watched a bunch in a row and it was a bit much. Looking back, there are moments of hilarity but the show is pretty hit or miss.

>Sopranos - love it. possibly the best American television show
>in history

I concur.

>Wonderfalls - didn't catch it. gonna check the DVD out one of
>these days

I highly recommend it.

>George W. Bush (just curious) - ha ha ha

Not a fan, I take it? :)

38374, my friend, on this we can agree n/m
Posted by DoctorBombay, Sun Nov-20-05 09:05 PM
38375, LOL but let me justify that!
Posted by AFKAP_of_Darkness, Sun Nov-20-05 09:38 PM
i didn't stop liking it just because it became popular and got awards... it's because it became hyped to a level that i wasn't sure it was worthy of.

like, when i thought it was just a little independent film that hardly anybody would see... okay, it was good enough for that

but when it became Picture of the Year, winner of Oscars and Independent Spirits and Golden Globes, i was like "okay, i liked it but it wasn't THAT great."

38376, I'll go.

>Fight Club --- like it okay
>Donnie Darko --- haven't seen it
>Pulp Fiction --- like it a lot, but don't really ride for it
>Star Wars episodes I - III --- III was the only one that added anything to the franchise
>Crash --- Haven't seen it, but honestly, I'd probably like it.
>War of the Worlds --- Really enjoyed it. Its strengths outweigh its weaknesses
>Napoleon Dynamite --- Loved it, but the hype was too much
>Lord of the Rings trilogy --- Almost a geek about it
>Sin City --- Didn't see it. Don't like the comic books.
>Matrix series --- First one was the last classic action movie. Lost interest, didn't see the others.
>Memento --- Great, enjoyable movie.
>City of God --- Haven't seen it, but I'll post when I do. (Kidding.)
>Lost in Translation --- Liked it, but once again, the hype was too much.
>Scarface --- Very enjoyable, but every criticism of the movie is valid. Think the idolization of the main character is a sign of dumbness.
>Training Day --- Really liked it. Stands up well to repeat viewings.
>
>Family Guy --- Like it. Think its a fun show to watch, with usually one or two absolutely hilarious jokes per episode.
>Simpsons --- Perfect in its prime, seasons 3-6 maybe, needs to be cancelled now.
>Aqua Teen Hunger Force --- Gave it a chance once, didn't get into it.
>Arrested Development --- Big fan, although the quality from episode to episode can vary greatly
>Lost --- Watching it from the beginning, but currently frustrated by slow pacing. Should have been a miniseries, or a one season story.
>The Office, American and British --- British is classic, some of the best television I've seen, the American version is good, but inferior. Still enjoy watching it, though.
>CSI (original and spinoffs) --- Never watched an episode. No desire.
>Sopranos --- No HBO. Not all that interested.
>Wonderfalls --- Haven't seen it. If on DVD, may check out.
>Freaks and Geeks --- Absolutely loved it. Very sad it's over.
>Undeclared --- Never saw it, want to.
>
>Marvel vs DC --- Based on classic graphic novels and Batman, DC, but Marvel dominated my childhood, so they get more nostalgic love from me.
>Batman and prep time --- Think Batman is cooler than about any other character you could mention, but that doesn't mean he can beat them all.
>
>Harry Potter (books and/or movies) --- Really liked the first four books, couldn't get into the fifth, and lost interest. The movies are okay. The last one was the only one that I thought was a great movie, and it still kind of had that "Just a bunch of stuff that happened" feeling.

>>Napoleon Dynamite --- Loved it, but the hype was too much

I know what you mean. I loved it, but if I hadn't heard it was the funniest thing ever, I probably would have enjoyed it even more - my expectations were too high.

>>Lord of the Rings trilogy --- Almost a geek about it

Cosign. It was hard to convince my wife to watch the extended versions, and even so, we did it on consecutive nights rather than back-to-back-to-back like I wanted.

>>Scarface --- Very enjoyable, but every criticism of the movie
>is valid. Think the idolization of the main character is a
>sign of dumbness.

Cosign.

>>Training Day --- Really liked it. Stands up well to repeat
>viewings.

Might need to see it again. I only saw it once, and my expectations were pretty high so I only found it to be okay.

>>Aqua Teen Hunger Force --- Gave it a chance once, didn't get
>into it.

You might like it if you catch a good episode. There are definitely some very funny moments but it's hit or miss to me.

>>Sopranos --- No HBO. Not all that interested.

Why not interested? No hype-o, it's worth checking out.

>>Wonderfalls --- Haven't seen it. If on DVD, may check out.

You won't regret it.

>>Freaks and Geeks --- Absolutely loved it. Very sad it's over.

Cosign! A tragic cancellation.

>>Undeclared --- Never saw it, want to.

It's worth the time.

>>Batman and prep time --- Think Batman is cooler than about
>any other character you could mention, but that doesn't mean
>he can beat them all.

Very well said, though I think Spiderman, Wolverine, and some others are cooler or as cool as Bats.
38378, Honestly, concerning the Sopranos
Posted by stylez dainty, Fri Nov-18-05 01:24 PM
I guess I'm not interested in seeing another mob-glorifying show that says piece-of-shit people are really cool. I'm not saying that's what the show is, but that's the bias that's kind of turned me off to the whole "See it from the Mobster's side" type of movie and show.

But if I ever have a night to myself, maybe I'll check it out.

(I realize that based on what I just said, some of my other choices from the poll seem hypocritical, but I'm saying some burn-out has occurred since I saw a lot of those films.)
38379, that is definitely NOT what the show is about.
Posted by AFKAP_of_Darkness, Fri Nov-18-05 01:26 PM
>I guess I'm not interested in seeing another mob-glorifying
>show that says piece-of-shit people are really cool.

far, far from it... almost the opposite, actually
38380, RE: that is definitely NOT what the show is about.
Posted by stylez dainty, Fri Nov-18-05 01:33 PM
I'm just talking about how sick I am of the bad-ass mobster-genre of film and how it killed my desire to see mob shows.

Maybe Sopranos is made for the person who is sick of these types of movies. Like I said, I can't make any judgements about the show because I haven't seen it. I'm just saying why I don't really have much desire.

Tangential rant:

What's happened to literature, film and television's Atticus Finches? I'm so damn tired of anti-heroes.

Fight Club - liked most of it but it put me in a dark place and I didn't like that at all
Donnie Darko - loved it
Pulp Fiction - liked it but hated the white guy saying nigger all the time (Tarentino)
Star Wars episodes I - III - liked episode III but hated I and II
Crash - loved it
War of the Worlds - meh (I could've waited for the rental)
Napoleon Dynamite - liked it
Lord of the Rings trilogy - loved it
Sin City - liked it
Matrix series - I loved I, sort of liked II, and loved III
Memento - liked it
City of God - liked it
Lost in Translation - did not like it
Scarface - meh...I liked it in the 80s, so I feel nostalgic watching it now
Training Day - didn't really like it

I am adding Secretary because it's fairly recent and I love it.

Family Guy - love it
Simpsons - love it
Aqua Teen Hunger Force - love it
Arrested Development - liked it
Lost - never seen it
The Office, American and British - never seen it
CSI (original and spinoffs) - love the original, haven't seen the others
Sopranos - never seen it...preferred Six Feet Under
Wonderfalls - never seen it
Freaks and Geeks - never seen it
Undeclared - never seen it

Marvel vs DC - DC
Batman and prep time - ???

Harry Potter (books and/or movies) - love both but prefer the books

George W. Bush (just curious) - hated it
38382, somehow this doesn't make sense to me:

38385, apart from the fact that The Sopranos is scientifically proven to be superior
Posted by AFKAP_of_Darkness, Fri Nov-18-05 09:41 PM
if you've never actually seen it, how can you say you "prefer" SFU?
38386, Scientifically?
Posted by Nettrice, Sat Nov-19-05 09:58 PM
Come on! :)

>if you've never actually seen it, how can you say you
>"prefer" SFU?

I saw about half of an episode (to be honest) but I watched a whole season of Six Feet Under because I found it to be interesting. I'd take American Beauty or Donnie Darko over Scarface anytime. That's just me.
38387, i would take American Beauty or Darko over Scarface myself
Posted by AFKAP_of_Darkness, Sun Nov-20-05 07:42 AM
but The Sopranos has got ZIP to do with Scarface

obviously, i was joking when i said it was "scientifically" proven to be superior, but i COULD actually make an objective case for why it's better conceived, written and produced than Six Feet Under on all counts

but there's no need, because in the end it all comes down to what you prefer, and that's cool

still, i would implore you not to sleep on The Sopranos. it's not what you think it is. i'm not necessarily a huge fan of mob movies and stuff, but Sopranos is a completely different animal... i think it's more about family and contemporary American culture in general.

>Fight Club --- Fan, Love it, Probably in my Top 10 of all time.

>Donnie Darko --- Not bad, not great, wish it made sense

>Pulp Fiction --- Fan, Love it but alas have seen it 2 many times so now its lost a bit of its luster.

>Star Wars episodes I - III --- A few cool moments here & there but overall pretty wack. Dont own any of the DVD's.

>Crash --- Not as bad as most peeps make it out 2 be. But Fraser & Bullock are terrible. Episito titty shot made it worth the rental & Ludacris was pretty good. (Thought he was terrible in Hustle & Flow)

>War of the Worlds --- Really looking forward 2 seein it

>Napoleon Dynamite --- Hilarious

>Lord of the Rings trilogy --- Awesome but pacing could've been better

>Sin City --- Fan, Love it, Anticipating the sequels. The visual style is top notch. But sorta like Pulp I might've seen it 2 many times now 2 where its starting 2 lose its luster a bit. I dont think I'll ever get tired of The Big Fat Kill tho.

>Matrix series --- Thought the 1st one would be shiddy so was shocked that I enjoyed it so much. The sequels fall into the same category as SW-EP's 1-3

>Memento --- Still my favorite movie of all time. Wish more movies could be like this.

>City of God --- Brilliant. Emotional & entertaining. Feels very real.

>Lost in Translation --- Good but another 1 of those movies (Life Aquatic, Broken Flowers) that I probably wouldnt enjoy as much if it werent 4 Bill Murray in the lead.

>Scarface --- Not the greatest ganster flick but Pacino is fun as hell 2 watch in it. Michelle Pfieffer aint 2 shabby either.

>Training Day --- Liked it more than I thought I would but neither role was Oscar worthy

>Family Guy --- Only seen a few eps. Pretty funny but not a huge fan by any means

>Simpsons --- While I never make a point 2 watch it, I always enjoy it when I do

>Aqua Teen Hunger Force --- Hilarious. Might not have ever checked 4 it if it wasnt 4 Dangerdoom but I'm glad I did. I go back & forth on whether Master Shake or Meatwad is the funniest.

>Arrested Development --- Never seen a single minute

>Lost --- Looks pretty good but I dont watch it

>The Office, American and British --- Saw a few eps of the Brittish version & enjoyed it. Saw 1 ep of the American version & enjoyed it as well but the only "shows" I watch on a regular basis are all on HBO.

>CSI (original and spinoffs) --- Hear its good & looks pretty good but just not 4 me. Wonder what's the difference in all the spinoffs besides location.

>Sopranos --- Best show on T.V. along w/ The Wire

>Wonderfalls --- No nothing about it

>Freaks and Geeks --- Heard so much about it I'll probably get around 2 checking it out 1 of these days

>Undeclared --- No nothing about it

>Marvel vs DC --- Makes me none. As long as the movies are good. And DC lookin really good right now after Batman Begins.

>Batman and prep time --- I think its funny how popular a topic its become but that's just another 1 of the things I love about PTP & OKP in general.

>Harry Potter (books and/or movies) --- Never read any of the books. Saw the 1st movie & thought it was pretty good but it wasnt good enough 2 make me wanna see any of the sequels. Still seems weird so many people my age & older are into it but I dont hate on it.

>George W. Bush (just curious) --- I'm a poly sci major who has decided 2 stay away from politics 4 the most part. After studying it 4 years & years I finally became fed up w/ it because its such bullshit as far as it being all about $ & power. That being said I dont know enough specifically about the man but from what I hear he's up 2 no good & I'd never vote 4 him. Big buisness interests & rich getting richer? Miss me w/ that shit.

>War of the Worlds - Hated. The best part of the version I saw were the boom mics that were in the frame.
>Napoleon Dynamite - Funny, and one of the best theater experiences I ever had.
>Lord of the Rings trilogy - Liked, glad it won so many awards. But I'm not sure I'd want ot own it.
>Sin City - Liked it alot. A fun movie.
>Matrix series - First one wasn't that great, 2 & 3 were even worse.
>Memento - Good, even if it does have some plot holes.
>City of God - Classic.
>Lost in Translation - Overrated. Scarlett Johannson was better in Ghost WOrld, Bill Murray was better when he was funny.
>Scarface - Dope. Not as great as your favorite rapper might think, but it's still a great action/drama, perfectly captures the 1980's. Carlito's way was better, though.
>Training Day - Good cop drama, good performances, worth watching more than once.
>
>Family Guy - Funny, one of the few shows where you can watch repeats and not get bored.
>Simpsons - Probably the GOAT of TV comedy, even if the last 5 years have been practically unwatchable.
>Aqua Teen Hunger Force - Without weed=funny. With weed=GOAT show.
>Arrested Development - I love it, but I can't fool myself into thinking it would ever be successful. It's NOT possible for new viewers to get into it unless they watch a previous season on DVD.
>Lost - Never seen.
>The Office, American and British - Both funny, though I'm more familiar with the American version.
>CSI (original and spinoffs) - Okay, nothing I would make an appointment to watch.
>Sopranos - Waiting for it to come back, addictive show.
>Wonderfalls - Never seen.
>Freaks and Geeks - Hilarious show, great cast, probably wouldn't have ever been successful, though.
>Undeclared - Great show, I thought it actually had a chance of being successful.
>
>Marvel vs DC - Marvel (even though I haven't read comics in 10 years, Spiderman was the GOAT.)
>Batman and prep time - Sex Boat>>>>>>>Prep Time
>
>Harry Potter (books and/or movies) - Never read the books, saw the first movie. It was okay.
>
>George W. Bush (just curious) - Doesn't care about PTP people.
38395, My take:
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Nov-18-05 01:36 PM

>Fight Club --- Love the movie, but don't live by it and don't really relate to it.

>Donnie Darko --- Never seen it.Always curious though.

>Pulp Fiction --- Great movie. Still stands the test of time. Brilliantly acted, written, and directed.

>Star Wars episodes I - III --- They get a bum rap. I think if everyone on this board saw them when they were 5 to 7 years old, they'd love them and remember them very fondly when they were 30. Not to say they don't have serious flaws, but I think people like to trash them to make thremslves look cool and edgy.

>Crash --- What, the David Cronenberg movie or the new one? Haven't seen either. Not really compelled to either.

>War of the Worlds --- Never seen it.

>Napoleon Dynamite --- Nothing special or fuuny or inspiring. Plays likes it was made to be highlighted on one "I love the 2000s" series on VH1. Kttchey for its own sake.

>Lord of the Rings trilogy --- Great movies. Someday I'm going to take a day to watch all three extended versions back to back to back. Then go to sleep.

>Sin City --- Good movie. Better comics. I saw the movie befroe I read the comics, and after reading them, by opinion of the flick has dminished a bit. Mickey Rourke is still great in it though.

>Matrix series --- First movie was good, and it was made to look even better after both of the sequels sucked ass.

>Memento --- I dig it, but my brain is always severely muddled after it watch it.

>City of God --- Love it. Can't say enough good things about it.

>Lost in Translation --- Occasionally a bit dull, but Murray and Johansson represent well in it. Penn gave a better perofrmance that year, but I still would've given the Oscar to Murray, becuase replayed the role perfectly and should have been rewarded for it.

>Scarface --- Love it.

>Training Day --- Love it.

>
>Family Guy --- Never saw what the big deal was/is. I mean, it's funny, but not the end all, be all.

>Simpsons --- Once the greatest show on TV. I'd stack season 4 through 7 against anything. Now, en. There is literally nothing more the show can do.

>Aqua Teen Hunger Force --- Find it hilarious. Meatwad rules.

>Arrested Development --- Great show. FOX are evil for cancelling it.

>Lost --- Haven't seen the first season, but the second season seems pretty good so far.

>The Office, American and British --- seems pretty good. I need to watch more of both.

>CSI (original and spinoffs) --- Only seen a few episodes. The original is cool. CSI Miami blows.

>Sopranos --- A damn good series, with episodes of absolute brilliance. Now it's become waaaaay too taken with itself, and really self-serving. Chase believes his own hype on it shows.

>Wonderfalls --- Never seen it
>Freaks and Geeks --- Never seen it, but heard ti's good. Want to watch it
>Undeclared --- Never seen it.
>
>Marvel vs DC --- Grew up a hardcore Marvel head. Since I've come back, it's been all about DC. And during my break, I maintained more interest in the DC comics.

>Batman and prep time --- Batman can indeed defeat anyone with enough prep time.

>
>Harry Potter (books and/or movies) --- Love the books. I've never been enamored with the movies. The magic really isn't working on me or something.

>George W. Bush (just curious) --- Evil and clueless S.O.B. Worst president this country's ever had.

Oh yeah, and The Wire is best show on TV and possibly the best TV Drama series ever produced.

>Lord of the Rings trilogy --- Brilliant epic filmmaking, even if a bit longwinded

>Star Wars episodes I - III --- have never liked Star Wars and it didn't change w/ this

>Crash --- I actually liked this movie, proof that I'm no real PTP player lol

>War of the Worlds --- I've only seen the Spielberg version; I liked everything except for the ending

>Napoleon Dynamite --- loved it; I saw it well after everyone else so I had forgotten all of the hype

>Lord of the Rings trilogy --- dopeness

>Sin City --- it had Jessica Alba, which was all I wanted. HOWEVER, the fact that it was a cool movie made it even better! Really liked the look and style

>Matrix series --- Eh! First one was ok, I've just never understood the fanatacism involved w/ this series.

>Memento --- Oooh! I'm pretty sure there's an earlier movie that did what this did, but I've never seen it, so I adore this. Very clever.

>City of God --- Haven't seen it.

>Lost in Translation --- Didn't like it that much the first time; has gotten much better after repeated viewings. Hooray for Scarlett!

Are you a fan, or not? Love it, like it, hate it?
Add comments as desired.

Fight Club --- Like it

Donnie Darko --- Couldn’t find the words to describe my hate until I read King Friday rip it to shreds. Worse than amateur porn was pretty much the gist of it.

Pulp Fiction --- Love it. Think waaaay to much is read into it.

Star Wars episodes I - III --- Pretending they never happened.

Crash --- Hate it. Might’ve been good, if it wasn’t so pretentious.

War of the Worlds --- Like it, classic beginning with a shitty ending.

Napoleon Dynamite --- Like it.

Lord of the Rings trilogy --- Love it, Like it, ehhhhh….

Sin City --- Sleep through it in the theaters, waiting for it to come to cable to see what I missed.

Matrix series --- Love it, stopped after the first one though.

Memento --- Love it.

City of God --- Will watch it some time before the new year.

Lost in Translation --- Hate it.

Scarface --- Hate it.

Training Day --- Didn’t care for it, then Eva Mendes happened. Redeemed the movie for me.

Family Guy --- Ehhhh…

Simpsons --- Love it.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force --- Never saw it.

Arrested Development --- Love it. I’ve never seen a show that so polarizing even though nobody watches.

Lost --- Like it
The Office, American and British --- Love the british version, haven’t had a chance to watch the yankee version of it.

CSI (original and spinoffs) --- Hate it. They should've stopped at one.

Sopranos --- Love it….even though it’s the second best show on HBO

Wonderfalls --- Missed it.

Freaks and Geeks --- LOVE IT.

Undeclared --- Love it

Marvel vs DC --- Marvel

Batman and prep time --- ?????

Harry Potter (books and/or movies) --- Neither…

George W. Bush (just curious) --- Moral Midget

>Fight Club --- The last third of it was atrocious. On the positive, damn if that wasn't the hottest Brad Pitt has ever looked. *drools*

>Donnie Darko --- Meh. I think it's possible I didn't completely understand it, so it made me feel better when I heard the director didn't really know what he was doing, anyway. And the song they play at the end depresses me.

>Pulp Fiction --- Love it. I wish people would stop analyzing it to death. I think Jackie Brown is arguably QT's best work, but PF has more replay value.

>Star Wars episodes I - III --- Only seen Episode I. Jar Jar was a pain in the ass.

>Crash --- Not in a big hurry to see it after reading some of the comments here.

>War of the Worlds --- No interest in seeing it.

>Napoleon Dynamite --- See Crash.

>Lord of the Rings trilogy --- I have zero desire to see these.

>Sin City --- It was pretty uneven. And it was more violent than I expected. I was covering my eyes a lot. That yellow-oozing guy made me nauseous.

>Matrix series --- Only seen the first one. It was aight. Not much interest in seeing the rest.

>Memento --- Very good film. I need to watch it again soon.

>City of God --- LOVE it.

>Lost in Translation --- I liked it a lot.

>Scarface --- Haven't seen either version yet.

>Training Day --- Yeah, I dug it, for the most part.

>
>Family Guy --- It's okay.

>Simpsons --- They're okay, too.

>Arrested Development --- Great show, sorry that it's not much longer for this world.

>Lost --- I've only seen bits and pieces of it at the gym.

>The Office, American and British --- I loved the first season of the British version. Didn't watch much of the second season. I've only seen one or two episodes of the American version. I'll have to catch up with the DVDs.

>CSI (original and spinoffs) --- I like the original and occasionally catch it on reruns, but don't make a point of watching it. I've watched one ep each of NY and Miami and didn't find them engaging.

>Sopranos --- One of the Top 2 shows on TV. Can't wait 'til March.

>Wonderfalls --- Loved that show. (Still haven't watched the DVDs yet!)

>Freaks and Geeks --- Love it. NBC is retarded for cancelling it.

>Undeclared --- Love it, too. I'm still working through the DVDs. Another short-lived Judd Apatow production...seems like the guy can't catch a break, at least when it comes to TV shows.

>
>Marvel vs DC --- I dunno. How much prep time is involved?

>Batman and prep time --- Prep time is a huge source of amusement for me.

>
>Harry Potter (books and/or movies) ---

Haven't read or seen any of them...maybe someday, but I'm in no hurry.

>Fight Club --- good flick, not worth seeing more than twice

>Donnie Darko --- saw it once, fell asleep in the middle

>Pulp Fiction --- it's not sliced bread, but it's the next best thing

>Star Wars episodes I - III --- I & II should be shot in the face, III is about as good as star wars gets

>Crash --- racism for dummies; condescending, manipulative and trite

>War of the Worlds --- a collage of spielberg's worst moments as an action director, the ending made me vomit apple pie

>Napoleon Dynamite --- saw half of it on premium cable, wasn't compelled to see the rest

>Lord of the Rings trilogy --- probably the best movie trilogy (wire to wire) ever made, but then again, it had some fantastic source material to work from

>Sin City --- the most fun i've had watching a movie since the incredibles; mindblowingly entertaining

>Matrix series --- the first had potential; potential that was defecated on by the last two

>Memento --- phenomenal; if the academy had half a scrote it would have been nominated for best picture

>City of God --- maybe the best "gangster" movie made in the last five years

>Lost in Translation --- pitch perfect, romance without the sap and sex

>Scarface --- entertainment overload... or should i say overkill; pacino is fantastic, though

>Training Day --- eff what you heard, denzel earned his oscar; damn good cop flick

>Family Guy --- wants so bad to be the simpsons it bleeds; most jokes are cheap pop culture references (creativity sold seperately), but stewie is comic gold; brian has his moments, too

>Simpsons --- the best there ever was or will be; in its heyday, it was the best sitcom in tv history

>Aqua Teen Hunger Force --- never seent it

>Arrested Development --- funny, but way too smart to be on FOX; would have killed on HBO

>Lost --- never seent it

>The Office, American and British --- british version didn't do it for me, american version is as good as any comedy on TV right now

>CSI (original and spinoffs) --- i can't say enough terrible things about the 3 dozen CSI-style crime procedurals on TV, it really deserves its own post

>Sopranos --- maybe the best TV drama of all time

>Wonderfalls --- never
>Freaks and Geeks --- seent
>Undeclared --- it

>Marvel vs DC --- here's the extent of my comic book knowledge: "worst episode ever."

>Batman and prep time --- prep time?

>Harry Potter (books and/or movies) --- never seent or read 'em, but people who i respect worship them, so i'll probably check it out at some point before i die

>George W. Bush (just curious) --- probably not the worst president in american history, but definitely the worst at the most critical period

did you watch The Sopranos from the beginning, or just caught random eps. most people I know who don't like it have seen a few eps here and there and had a "what's the big deal?" attitude towards it.

that said, I think you might really like The Wire in terms of social commentary. but that's another long haul show. if you don't watch entire seasons, you're wasting your time.

Matrix series --- the first one was decent, but overrated, hated the 2nd, never saw the 3rd
Memento --- never saw it
City of God --- liked it
Lost in Translation --- liked it
Scarface --- never watched the whole thing
Training Day --- it was decent, but the whole Denzel-as-a-bad guy was really all it had going for it

Family Guy --- like it
Simpsons --- still watch it & still like it
Aqua Teen Hunger Force --- like it
Arrested Development --- what I've seen is funny, but it can be hard to follow
Lost --- never seen it
The Office, American and British --- never seen it
CSI (original and spinoffs) --- never seen it or care to
Sopranos --- never seen it
Wonderfalls --- never heard of it
Freaks and Geeks --- only saw it a few times, it was good
Undeclared --- never seen it

Marvel vs DC --- I like both, I think the whole vs argument hasn't had any relevance for the last 30 years
Batman and prep time --- however, this is one argument I love!

Harry Potter (books and/or movies) --- never read the books, only saw the 1st movie - it was ok

George W. Bush (just curious) --- No
38414, good point.

like lonesome_d said, it's really like Coke vs Pepsi or Democrat vs Republican
38415, Both Marvel & DC's concepts are virtually interchangable these days

Fight Club --- great first act. terrible movie.

Donnie Darko --- I don't understand what people find so amazing, or horrible about it. it's an enjoyable little movie. that's about it

Pulp Fiction --- an overrated, self-satisfied undeniable classic. I love it.

Star Wars episodes I - III --- I long for the days when I first saw the Phantom Menace trailer. it looked so incredible. Fuck you George Lucas for pissing on my childhood memories.

Crash --- overcooked bullshit. though I loved the first scene with the locksmith and his little girl.

War of the Worlds --- haven't seen it.

Napoleon Dynamite --- "oooh look how random and quirky we are!" it has its moments, but the next dude I see with a "Vote for Pedro" shirt is catching a beating.

Lord of the Rings trilogy --- love the battle scenes, hate the homo-erotic hobbit interaction. Smeagol is the best crackhead since the double cheeseburger guy in Menace II Society. could've done without the 80 endings in ROTK. as a whole I find it kind of boring, but I wont deny it's greatness.

>Sin City --- very enjoyable movie that I've had little desire to see again.

>Matrix series --- I stopped at Reloaded.

>Memento --- great movie. the "gimmick" in this film fits the theme perfectly. not much replay value.

>City of God --- I saw it 3 times in the theater. safe to say I love it.

>Lost in Translation --- I loved it the first time around. now I just like it.

>Scarface --- a GREAT movie if you don't take it seriously. If you do take it seriously, you're a moron.

>Training Day --- good cable movie.

>Family Guy --- never seen an ep

>Simpsons --- usedtobegreat

>Sopranos --- my favorite TV show of all time, which makes it the best show ever.

>Freaks and Geeks --- love the shit out of it.

>George W. Bush (just curious) --- the The Daily Show would suck without him.

Fight Club --- Undeniable classic. All three acts.

Donnie Darko --- Lame, pseudo-metaphysical musing + "ironic" 80's setting = overheated garbage.

Pulp Fiction --- Undeniable classic. Arguably the most influential, relevant, and entertaining "independent" movie of the 90's. Note the "ironic" use of the quotes around the word "independent."

Star Wars episodes I - III --- A project that was doomed from the start. Anytime you hear the word "prequel," run, because that means nothing more than "backstory." And George had the nerve to make it a *political* prequel, which was just a bad idea. That said, I loved Episode III, and firmly believe that we'll look back at these films 10 years from now, take into consideration the political climate we live(d) in, look at all three movies again, then declare George Lucas a goddamn genius. I mean, how prophetic can a title like "The Phantom Menace" get?

Crash --- See Mynoriti's comments on Donnie Darko. Wasn't that bad, but it wasn't great, either. Maybe I'll watch it again, now that I have received an official screener.

War of the Worlds --- The epitome of a popcorn movie. Didn't hate it at all. It was okay. Nothing more, nothing less. Spielberg can crank these out in his sleep. Gotta give him credit for that. And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention your boy and mine, CROOZE!

Napoleon Dynamite --- Very funny movie. To say anything else is putting way extra on it.

Lord of the Rings trilogy --- The greatest trilogy in motion picture history. Period. Epic in scope, intimate in detail. Super performances, great action. Supposed homoeroticism aside (no homo), and 475 endings in Return of the King notwithstanding, this is what epic movies are supposed to be all about.

Sin City --- Good, but not as hyperventilating-ly good as many, many, MANY, PTPers made it out to be. Rodriguez' stubborn insistence on remaining faithful to the graphic novel inadvertently revealed the narrative flaws of said graphic novel.

Matrix series --- The original was fun because it didn't take itself too seriously. Then once it was a hit, the Wachowskis decided to try to add depth to a surface-level concept (no matter how many web pages and papers are devoted to the films), Larry Fishburne started eating off of the profits, then Reloaded hit and was such a narrative mess that no one gave a shit by the time Revolutions hit and the "shocking" decision was made to kill off Neo and Trinity. And don't forget, if you hadn't played (and defeated) the tie-in videogame, you would have had no idea who these random characters were who just showed up. Ironically, I actually liked Reloaded (and defended it to the death on here against Wonder33t), because I thought we were being prepared for the Mother of All Payoffs. Well, we got a big battle inside a dirty, minority-filled city, but it looked like a really bad 40's war picture. And Neo disappeared halfway through and didn't reappear until 20 minutes before the end, before he was killed off. Word is on the new Matrix videogame there is an audio message where the Wachowski's say they regret the way they ended the trilogy, thus justifying this new game's existence. Keep shilling, guys.

Memento --- Introduced Christopher Nolan to the world. The world is grateful.

City of God --- The last great "time-shifting period gangster" picture. As poignant as it is exciting.

Lost in Translation --- A meditation on communication. Beautifully acted and shot. GREAT use of music. Not everyone's cup of tea.

Scarface --- Undeniable hood classic. Not really supposed to be a "great" or even "good" film. It's all attitude and gangster iconography. And damn if it ain't still fun to watch.

Training Day --- Great Denzel performance, but the narrative slips during the last third.

Family Guy --- Smart ass, "look how 'edgy' we're being" humor that best plays to those under 28. There are some good jokes, though.

Simpsons --- Still going strong. God bless 'em. Can't wait for the movie.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force --- Haven't seen. I just know that they're funny on that Danger Doom joint.

Arrested Development --- Unjustly martryred show. Let's face it, people, the "quirky and darkly funny" sitcom formula only works for one show, and that's pay cable's "Curb Your Enthusiasm." The difference between this show and My Name is Earl is that Earl has heart in spades, and has a hot secret weapon in Jamie Pressly.

Lost --- Super television. Stop trying to out-guess each other, sit back and admire the things this show's doing.

The Office, American and British --- The British version is better. Ignore it at your own peril. I enjoy the American version, though, but the fact that things are being stretched out over 22 episodes only speaks to the brilliance of Gervais and Merchant, in how they were able to get across so many themes and ideas in 14 episodes.

CSI (original and spinoffs) --- Still watch from time to time. They're all enjoyable for what they are.

Sopranos --- The greatest dramatic series in television history. Period. End of discussion.

Wonderfalls --- Didn't see.

Freaks and Geeks --- Justly martyred show. When I finally get around to finishing my dramatic pilot I want it to turn out something like the pilot for this show. And if my pilot somehow gets magically picked up, I want the stories to all be told in the same manner as these were.

Undeclared --- Didn't see.

Marvel vs DC --- Next.

Batman and prep time --- Next.

Harry Potter (books and/or movies) --- The three movies I've seen have been great. Haven't seen the fourth yet. Am waiting until all 7 books are out before I read them all in one sitting. It's weird, I know.

George W. Bush (just curious) --- That 1995 movie with Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd.

MORE:

The Wire --- The best-written dramatic show in television history.

Six Feet Under --- Great show that lost its way in the middle but somehow found a way to regain its footing, ironically enough during the season in which Alan Ball had the, um, balls to kill off one of his main characters. And that series-ending montage still kicks ass, despite the "fake-looking" makeup.

I gave up when David (that was the gay brother's name, right?) got kidnapped. At that point, it was just all ridiculousness happening for no reason. I was waiting for the space episode. I had been on the fence for maybe a year's worth of episodes before that, too.

That said, for a while, it was a very good (though never great, imo) show.

>Fight Club ---

I thought it was interesting, funny, and aesthetically compelling. I think that its content makes it the #1 favorite film of all time for asshole 16-26 year old men. Whether or not they understand the satire.

>Donnie Darko ---

Never seen it, I'm guessing I wouldn't like it.

>Pulp Fiction ---

Fun movie.

>Star Wars episodes I - III ---

I watched one when it came out. It was horrifically bad. Then I watched two with my little brothers. More of the same. I may watch three on video.

>Crash ---
>War of the Worlds ---

Didn't see either of these.

>Napoleon Dynamite ---

Obviously, it's a Wes Anderson knockoff. It's all very derivative. But I thought it was an impressive achievement, and it was charming and funny, if slight. So I guess I'm in the middle, between the dumbells who think it's some great secret discovery they made, and the people who hate those people and the film by extension.

>Lord of the Rings trilogy ---

A lot of fun. Possibly too much. I thought some of the hobbit effects weren't as effective as they were supposed to be, it was disconcerting to me.

>Sin City ---

I walked out, I thought the film was inane and leaden. Aesthetically interesting.

>Matrix series ---

I watched about half of the first one on video and got bored. I watched the second one in the theater (snuck in), and it was horrifically bad.

>Memento ---

Fun, but co-opted by those same guys that used to love The Usual Suspects.

>City of God ---

Never saw it. Lately I've been avoiding any film that could be described as "harrowing"

>Lost in Translation ---

A very funny film about people overcoming alienation. Not racist, very good.

>Scarface ---

I've never seen it, but I'm reasonably confident it's retarded. Another film for people with more teenage hormones than taste.

>Training Day ---

I really liked it, though I thought it fell apart a bit at the end. Denzel's performance was about as good a showing as a movie star could ever make. He's really amazing at what he does.

>Family Guy ---

Lowest common denominator BS.

>Simpsons ---

One of the greatest television shows ever. I haven't watched regularly in nearly 10 years, but I don't really mind that they're still making episodes. Obviously, the quality isn't what it could be, but it's still better than According to Jim.

>Aqua Teen Hunger Force ---

Pretty funny for 10 minutes.

>Arrested Development ---

A brilliant show, though I wish it were more character-driven and a bit less precious. Sometimes the cast is wasted. The cast, btw... best since Cheers. What a fucking brilliant cast.

>Lost ---

Never seen it.

>The Office, American and British ---

Both are fantastic. The British send-off special was some of the best TV I've ever seen. The US version might be the funniest show on TV right now.

>CSI (original and spinoffs) ---
>Sopranos ---
>Wonderfalls ---

I saw the Sopranos once or twice, but otherwise, I've never seen these.

>Freaks and Geeks ---

A really great little show. Wish it had succeeded. Probably not as good as it's rep would suggest, but really great nonetheless.

>Undeclared ---

As above, although the cast is a little weaker.

>Marvel vs DC ---

When I was 12, and it was still appropriate to have this argument, I chose Marvel, usually.

>Batman and prep time ---

Iron Man. That MF'er is ALWAYS prepared.

>Harry Potter (books and/or movies) ---

Fuck that.

>George W. Bush (just curious) ---

I voted for Sharpton, so you can imagine what my politics are.

Fight Club --- Didn't like it. An ugly film that doesn't say anything.

Donnie Darko --- Dumb. I really think you need to be stoned to find anything worthwhile in this film.

Pulp Fiction --- One of the most entertaining films of the 90s.

Star Wars episodes I - III --- I think it's no secret, I'm a fan.

Crash --- No, James Spader, no!!

War of the Worlds --- Never saw it. I'm sure it's better than Independence Day but I'm bored of the whole concept.

Napoleon Dynamite --- Watched the first half hour. Couldn't find a story. Stopped it to watch basketball.

Lord of the Rings trilogy --- Love the books, hate the films.

Sin City --- Repetitive and pointless. Unstoppable tough guy defends whore, kills perverted bad dudes. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Matrix series --- Silly and uninteresting.

Memento --- A good short film concept stretched way too long.

City of God --- A very good film that uncomfortably flirts with making these characters' tragic lives a little too entertaining.

Lost in Translation --- Impressive 2nd film, but not the Graduate or anything.

Scarface --- Hawks great, De Palma amusing.

Training Day --- Never saw it.

Family Guy --- Not funny at all. Like its written by all the writers who got rejected by the Simpsons.

Simpsons --- Among the best shows television ever produced for a few seasons, a slow decline since "Who Shot Mr. Burns" until becoming completely unwatchable in the last few years.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force --- Never seen it. These characters get pretty annoying on repeat listens of DangerDoom.

Arrested Development --- Never seen it.

Lost --- Never seen it.

The Office, American and British --- Never seen it. (I don't own a television).

Marvel vs DC --- The only comics I ever read were Mad and Sgt. Rock.

Batman and prep time --- amusing.

Harry Potter (books and/or movies) --- I don't really know anything about British boarding schools. I've never read these books or seen these films, but it really doesn't seem like my sort of thing.

George W. Bush (just curious) --- Will be universally regarded as a failure by historians and the public alike before the end of his life.

Posted by Marbles, Sun Nov-20-05 09:56 AM

>Fight Club ---

Never saw it

>Donnie Darko ---

very good movie

>Pulp Fiction ---

I don't understand the hype.

>Star Wars episodes I - III ---

Haven't seen Episode 3...they're OK. I actually enjoyed the Clone Wars cartoon on Cartoon network more than either movie. However, the big figt scene with Darth Maul from Episode I was epic.

>Crash ---

Good movie...not earth-shattering but OK.

>War of the Worlds ---

Didn't see it

>Napoleon Dynamite ---

Loved it

>Lord of the Rings trilogy ---

Good but drawn out too much

>Sin City ---

OK...it works better as a comic book than a movie

>Matrix series ---

If they would have left the 1st one alone, it would have been a classic of Raiders & Star Wars proportions. But taking all 3 movies into account, the series was just OK.

>Memento ---

Great, great movie...one of my all time favorites.

>City of God ---

Didn't see it

>Lost in Translation ---

Didn't see it

>Scarface ---

Eh...I understood the appeal but that appeal wasn't for me.

>Training Day ---

Overrated. Average, at best.

>Family Guy ---

Hilarious, on a stupid comedy level. It's not brain surgery.

>Simpsons ---

Still very solid

>Aqua Teen Hunger Force ---

Never seen it

>Arrested Development ---

Very good show

>Lost ---

One of my 2 favorite shows right now. Has potential to be one of the best ever if they play their cards right.

>The Office, American and British ---

The American version is my other favorite show. Haven't seen the British one although I just got a new cable package and I've noticed it's on.

>CSI (original and spinoffs) ---

Only seen 1 episdoe...

>Sopranos ---

Great, great show. The thing that grabs me is that there is not one, single sympathetic character on the show.

>Wonderfalls ---

Never seen it

>Freaks and Geeks ---

Never seen it, althought the woman has been clamoring for us to grab the DVD

>Undeclared ---

Loved this show...they nailed a lot of aspects of college that really hit home.

>Marvel vs DC ---

My favorite books are mostly DC but that doesn't mean I hate Marvel

>Batman and prep time ---

Comedy...real, true comedy.

>Harry Potter (books and/or movies) ---

Never seen or read any

>George W. Bush (just curious) ---

I misunderestimated just how bad his presidency could turn out.

Peace,

*** MARBLES ***
38436, sure, i'll play.

>Fight Club - Good movie. No strong feelings on it, though.
>Donnie Darko - Liked it. It's actually a pretty funny film. I think people were upset because they read too much into the mystery of the movie, when it was in fact a fairly straight-forward scifi movie that just obscured the plot enough to suggest something deeper was at work. It probably would seem like a better movie if you watched it stoned.
>Pulp Fiction - Fantastic film. Deserves all the love it gets.
>Star Wars episodes I - III - Yes. I'm a fan. Are they better than the original trilogy? Of course not. Did Lucas drop the ball in how he executed them? Probably, at times. But, I still can't get enough of the Star Wars universe - I'm just a geek for it. No need to argue about whether anyone else should agree with me - its pretty much in my blood to like Star Wars. I enjoy it almost unconditionally. And I'm actually glad that a new generation of Star Wars geeks is coming along now who have grown up on these prequels. No matter what Lucas says, this series is NOT over. For better or worse, the franchise will be around for a long time to come.
>Crash - No interest in it.
>War of the Worlds - Looked like crap. No plans to see it.
>Napoleon Dynamite - I expected it to suck, but found it highly amusing. I really like this movie.
>Lord of the Rings trilogy - Brilliant. Couldn't imagine a better adaptation of the books (which I loved).
>Sin City - No. I liked parts of it, and enjoyed the style, but ultimately wasn't that impressed. Pretty vacant stuff.
>Matrix series - Great film, Decent film, Terrible film. The sequels were basically a very bad idea.
>Memento - I think it was a great little movie. The gimmick works well with the subject matter, so it succeeds.
>City of God - Absolutely. I'm about to watch it again.
>Lost in Translation - Liked it quite a bit, but I doubt it would stand up if I saw it multiple times. Good movie, though.
>Scarface - I don't remember, saw it a long time ago.
>Training Day - Nothing special. Not an Oscar-worthy film or performance (whatever that means). It was okay for what it tried to do.
>
>Family Guy - Not my cup of tea, though it has grown on me some. Reminds me a lot of The Critic. Lots of jokes, mainly non-sequitor humor, willing to go anywhere with a gag. I don't hate it though.
>Simpsons - I still watch it, though the laughs are considerably less frequent these days. But after being a huge fan for this long, I can't bring myself to really dislike the show. In its prime it was one of the greatest TV shows ever.
>Aqua Teen Hunger Force - Don't like it. How can Adult Swim cancel Home Movies and keep crap like this on the air?
>Arrested Development - Great show. This season has been uneven (Charlize Theron's character was a lame idea), but I'm pissed that they're about to cancel it.
>Lost - So far, I like it. I'm watching Season 1 right now, and I'm in "spoiler-avoidance" mode. But, I'll reserve judgement, but it seems like something I'll enjoy.
>The Office, American and British - Plan on watching the British version. The NBC one is very funny, and I plan on starting to watch it.
>CSI (original and spinoffs) - I have no interest in TV cop shows like this.
>Sopranos - Haven't seen a full episode in my life. Someday I may watch the series to find out if it deserves the hype.
>Wonderfalls - No idea. I might check it out eventually.
>Freaks and Geeks - Brilliant TV show. Why didn't I watch it when it was on?! This DVD set is a prize possession in my collection.
>Undeclared - Another great series. I watched it religiously when it was on FOX, and I was sorry to see it cancelled. The DVD set is nice, but made me realize how uneven the show was episode to episode.
>
>Marvel vs DC - Don't read comics anymore, but I used to be a DC head.
>Batman and prep time - Prep time is vastly overrated.
>
>Harry Potter (books and/or movies) - I tried to avoid the books on the basis that I'm an adult, but eventually I read them and discovered they're pretty damn good. I wish they'd been around when I was a kid. Of the first three movies, only the third was actually any good.
>
>George W. Bush (just curious) - HATE. I hate the guy. I hate his policies. I hate his corruption. I hate that he's supposed to represent me to the rest of the world. He is unredeemable. Nothing good about W.

>Star Wars episodes I - III --- the fights were good in all, III is good.
>Crash --- Great movie. still dont get the hate for it.
>War of the Worlds --- great movie. ending is original, but bad.
>Napoleon Dynamite --- VERY WACK.
>Lord of the Rings trilogy --- Instant classics. Jackson is a genius.
>Sin City --- Great movie.
>Matrix series --- First is a classic, second is good, third is eh.
>Memento --- never seen it.
>City of God --- never seen it.
>Lost in Translation --- never seen it.
>Scarface --- Awesome.

>
>Family Guy --- So good, it's scary.
>Simpsons --- Second best.
>Aqua Teen Hunger Force --- Still trying to get/like it.
>Arrested Development --- don't watch.
>Lost --- Entertaining, but frustrating.
>The Office, American and British --- Don't watch.
>CSI (original and spinoffs) --- Good shows when i get to see them.
>Sopranos --- don't watch, but i have heard GREAT things.
>Wonderfalls --- ???
>
>Marvel vs DC --- MARVEL, but DC gets my money for Justice and IC.
>Batman and prep time --- This is pretty wack. i mean, bats is great, but he should more than likely be dead. this is a pretty new thought i had, b/c of the shit he has done. and Wolverine would kick his ass, b/c how the fuck is Batman gonna beat a guy who has survived crucifiction, beaten a Brood egg that hatched inside him, having his face shot the fuck off, skin melted off, reviving from a single drop of blood, and most recently seen (coming up next year) being ripped in half? Batman loses that one.
>
>Harry Potter (books and/or movies) --- haven't read or watched any.
>
>George W. Bush (just curious) --- The US needs help, but he is not near as bad as everyone puts out. Now before you start saying that i am a supporter, this man is a fucking idiot who is riding on his pops coattail and 15 minutes of fame. All i am saying is, let me see you do a better job.

>Fight Club --- I enjoy it greatly. I don't love it, because I recognize the flaws, but I really like it.
>Donnie Darko --- Enjoyed it up until the ending until I was seriously confused. Watched it twice more. Was still confused. Watched the directors commentary, got pissed off, haven't watched it since.
>Pulp Fiction --- Say what again. Love it.
>Star Wars episodes I - III --- Sigh. Thanks George Lucas for ruining the fantasies of my childhood. Each movie had some cool parts, but the lack of continuity with the ep 4-6 killed me. Ep 3 was the best, but that's not really saying much.
>Crash --- I found it to be pretty trite by the end of the film. Yeah I got what they're trying to say. We're all racists. This is not a newsflash. If it really got people to start active, productive and ongoing dialogues about race in this country, then it'd be a great movie. I didn't see that happening. But it wasn't terrible.
>War of the Worlds --- Haven't seen it. May not.
>Napoleon Dynamite --- You're just jealous because I talk with hot chicks online all day. LOVE IT.
>Lord of the Rings trilogy --- Very enjoyable. Also very long. I'm not always in the mood for it.
>Sin City --- Just an enjoyable flick. I don't think it'll change cinema and it's not like the acting is brilliant throughout. Just a great flick.
>Matrix series --- The first one was brilliant. I loved it. Maybe it's because I saw it well before the massive hype ensued, but it remains to this day, my favorite movie I ever caught in a theatre. The second two didn't live up to the hype. We all know that. I was surprised to find that they start to go down better on repeat viewings when you ignore the hype and take them for what they are.
>Memento --- Genius. I will forever support Nolan on the basis of this film alone. It's hard to tell a film well when the narrator has a narration issue. And yet he did.
>City of God --- More people need to see this. I think it's brilliance is unquestioned in these parts.
>Lost in Translation --- I can't be objective with this movie. I love the three people who make this movie what it is: Scarlett, Bill and Sophia. I really enjoy this movie. Even the awkward scenes. And that says alot because I typically don't like awkward scenes.
>Scarface --- Never seen it.
>Training Day --- Definitely stands up to repeat viewings. Restored my faith in Ethan Hawke. Nice film. Nothing to get geeked about, but a nice film.
>
>Family Guy --- It's funny, but it's no simpsons in it's prime.
>Simpsons --- See above. It hasn't been anywhere near it's prime for a good five or six years now.
>Aqua Teen Hunger Force --- I only really dig the Moononites. Everything else is blah.
>Arrested Development --- I enjoy it when I catch it, but I don't go out of my way to catch it.
>Lost --- I heart Evangeline Lily. But I don't watch the show.
>The Office, American and British --- Never seen the British. I don't force myself to catch the American, but what I've seen I like.
>CSI (original and spinoffs) --- I understand the appeal to the mass market, but there's no character development, no great actors, and half the shit is fucking predictable. I'd rather watch something that had some semblance of a story arc. Thank you come again.
>Sopranos --- Never seen it.
>Wonderfalls --- Never seen it. Would like to.
>Freaks and Geeks --- See Wonderfalls.
>Undeclared --- Never seen it. Don't think I've ever heard of it.
>
>Marvel vs DC --- Never was huge into comics, but I enjoy both Marvel and DC stuff. If you put a gun to my head, I'd probably say DC. Bats and Supes own all day over everyone else.

>Batman and prep time --- Bats could overthrow the Republicans with 6 months of prep time.

Fight Club --- like it
Donnie Darko --- like it
Pulp Fiction --- like it
Star Wars episodes I - III --- why do people hold commercial francises up to art standards? Never saw the third - thought the first two were what they were. Not awful, obviously not great. Run of the mill kids movies
Crash --- mixed opinion. Didn't like it when I 1st saw it. Sat on it a while and thought back on it fondly. Saw it a second time and disliked it again.
War of the Worlds --- Never saw it. On purpose tho
Napoleon Dynamite --- like it
Lord of the Rings trilogy --- like it
Sin City --- loved it
Matrix series --- liked the 1st one. Enjoyed watching the 2nd two but don't really think they're good. I mean, they're pretty bad.
Memento --- loved it
City of God --- loved it
Lost in Translation --- never saw it
Scarface --- like it
Training Day --- like it but don't think its that good

Family Guy --- love
Simpsons --- love
Aqua Teen Hunger Force --- not a fan
Arrested Development --- never watched it too much, but i can assume its pretty good
Lost --- never watched it

Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Nothing "art" about it. But for commercial, popcorn, mindless entertainment, there is still good and bad. Why must it be that if people see these movies for the shit they are, then they must be using the wrong criteria?

>Star Wars episodes I - III --- why do people hold commercial
>francises up to art standards? Never saw the third - thought
>the first two were what they were. Not awful, obviously not
>great. Run of the mill kids movies

The only possible complaint I could hear is that it's not as good as the book.

But I don't even agree with that.

>Fight Club --- Hate it. Hate David Fincher. Most overrated Hollywood director ever.
>Donnie Darko --- Don't particularly care for that kind of creepy shit.
>Pulp Fiction --- Love it, although not as much as most movie buffs/Tarantino fans. Jackie Brown is vastly superior.
>Star Wars episodes I - III --- Garbage. Well...I'll be fair and admit I haven't seen the third one. But for the record...IV to VI are borderline garbage as well.
>Crash --- Cronenberg's: don't care for this kind of creepy shit either. Haggis's: it was a'ight, but if they weren't already two staples of the movie critique's lingo, 'contrived' and 'heavy-handed' would have been invented for this movie.
>War of the Worlds --- Haven't seen it yet. Not sure I'm planning to, because I didn't particularly care for the book. Nor for Spielberg ever since he went 'serious' on us.

>Scarface --- like everybody else in here...I enjoy it for the camp factor. We're going to have to stop calling it 'overrated', too, because most comments I read these days (not only on okayplayer, everywhere) are of this nature (did not age well, grotesque, campy, etc).

Fight Club --- One of my favorite movies ever

Donnie Darko --- haven't seen it. Netflixed it once and couldn't bring myself to watch it

Pulp Fiction --- Excellent film that I find something new in everytime I watch it. But its
responsible for a lot of horrible cinema since its release.

Star Wars episodes I - III --- Check my screen name. For what they are, I liked Eps. I and II. Loved the third. Its the number 2 Star Wars flick of all time behind Empire Strikes Back

Crash --- Thought it was a great movie. Keep forgetting to buy the DVD.

War of the Worlds --- O-ver-rated. Thought Minority Report was better Spielberg/Cruise

Napoleon Dynamite --- Loved the first 40 minutes. The rest, is just eh

Lord of the Rings trilogy --- Liked every one when I first saw them, but Fellowship is the only one I ever get the urge to watch. I own the SEs and Fellowship is the only one I have watched.

Sin City --- Loved the flick, but I loved the books as well. I want to see the remaining books fleshed out into a movie because they read more like a movie.

Matrix series --- Hated the original at first, but everytime I watch it I like it more for the subtext. The other two get a lot of unjustifiable hate IMO. The series ended the only way it could with all the analysis and "they better nots" being thrown around.

Memento --- Great movie that I have no desire to ever see again

City of God --- Blew me the fuck away

Lost in Translation --- I saw it on DVD after the hype and I don't see what the big deal is. It did make me want to go to Japan though.

Scarface --- I saw it for the first time at age 7 and thought it was cool. I didn't see it again for almost 10 years. That was about the time when rappers started jumping on the bandwagon. Its one of the most over the top movies ever made. When I used to work in a video store, I tried to steer the Scarface-heads to stuff like Goodfellas or even New Jack City just to cut down on the nut riding. Its actually gotten worse over the years.

Training Day --- Denzel was the shit in this movie. Other than that and Eva Mendes being naked. That's about it.

Family Guy --- When it first came on, it was hit and miss with me. Since it came back, every episode I've seen is hilarious.

Simpsons --- I will watch this show until it goes off the air, but the last five years have been subpar, to say the least.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force --- Don't watch it.

Arrested Development --- Missed the first season except for a few episodes here and there. Since it competed with The Sopranos for much of its first season, I slept. Its one of the few network shows I make a point to watch every week.

Lost --- Every episode of this show I've seen, I liked. I even went as far as TiVoing it, but I just can't sit down and watch it.
The Office, American and British --- Didn't see the british version. Tried to watch part of an episode of the american version and didn't like it that much.

CSI (original and spinoffs) --- Nope. Law and Order, bitch!

Sopranos --- Has fallen off a little over the last two years, but the first three were bananas.

Wonderfalls --- Nope

Freaks and Geeks --- Watched a couple of episodes, but it came on on Saturday night before TiVo.

Undeclared --- Missed it. My college experience has yet to be caught on a television show.

Marvel vs DC --- Marvel because they only D.C. Comic I read religiously was Batman.

Batman and prep time --- Batman could fuck anybody up with prep time.

Harry Potter (books and/or movies) --- Invisiblist has finally won his four year battle to get me on Harry Potter. Started with the movies. Now I gotta get the books.

George W. Bush (just curious) --- It is my policy to hate whoever's in office, but this dude makes it too easy.
