the village was a very good movie -- the cinematography, score, acting and overall mood were fantastic -- but m. night could not have dug himself into a deeper rut. he brought 95% of the criticism on himself by making four straight movies with twist endings. so everyone went into the village with the wrong frame of mind, which turned out to be the right frame of mind for guessing the ending, but the wrong one for enjoying the film for what it was.
