and said "don't give up until you've watched at least 4 episodes". i didn't really get it until somewhere in the middle of the third one. it's just a completely different kind of humor.

it's very similar to curb your enthusiasm to me, where you're not laughing because it's funny-funny, but the situations just get so uncomfortable that you start this nervous laugh. then when they do hit you with a more straightforward joke, it just makes you laugh that much harder. it builds up, at least for me.

didn't someone say comedy = pain + truth? these shows really play up the pain.
