27351, Things about The Cosby Show that made you go 'wtf'?
Posted by Mica, Wed Apr-13-05 02:40 PM
Sorry for the spinoff of a spinoff, but this has ALWAYS bothered me:

Ok so neither Denise nor Saundra were adopted right? Cliff and Claire were their natural parents, right?

Why the FUCK are they so much lighter than Vanessa, Rudy and Theo?

Add on.
27352, The grandparents' genes came out witht those 2
Posted by egotrippin, Wed Apr-13-05 02:42 PM
*shrugs* it happens sometimes.
27353, yup
Posted by BigWorm, Wed Apr-13-05 02:45 PM
That's not too rare at all.
27354, RE: The grandparents' genes came out witht those 2

People see me, then see my parents and wonder if I was adopted..... then they see my maternal grandmom and it all comes together.
27355, Ok
Posted by Mica, Wed Apr-13-05 03:01 PM
I guess that's a valid point.

Would have been interesting to see Vanessa have an episode where she, say, was bothered by Denise's light skin and there could be a discussion on the light skin/dark skin debate.

Then again, Cosby probably wouldn't want such a detrimental topic for the Black community to be discussed on a show that's supposed to be funny and uplifting.
27356, That would have been a great episode
Posted by egotrippin, Wed Apr-13-05 03:08 PM
Vanessa was the ugly duckling and she probably had self esteem problems.

I haven't figured out what they were trying to accomplish with that one yet, but I know they're behind it.
27360, from what I hear, it was mostly her doing
Posted by AnaStezia, Thu Apr-14-05 11:17 PM
I thought the stylist just hated her, but it turns out most of those styles were her choice.

27371, theo went to grad school for psychology
Posted by chillsm00th, Wed Apr-13-05 03:17 PM
he wasn't a slacker after his dyslexia was diagnosed. and as far as we can tell, vanessa did well in her first years in college. it's really just the first two kids who were slackers -- and actually sondra DID get her JD, didn't she?
27372, yeah, but Sondra dropped that to open a wilderness store...

Posted by wntrbaby, Wed Apr-13-05 03:55 PM
they have a lot of advantages handed to them. but those kids all did alright for themselves. the first four all went to college (denise didn't graduate, but she still went to africa and all). and you assume rudy went to college. so all's well.
27375, #1. How was Claire so thin, and had all those kids?
Posted by ZORA NEWTON, Thu Apr-14-05 01:44 PM
#2. How did she go to L-school and undergrad and have
all those kids.
Was she poppin' 'em out in college?
27376, how come we never saw Claire working?!
Posted by ronin soul, Wed Apr-13-05 03:35 PM

27377, I am doing a student film

In some episode in the first few seasons, she played a girlfriend Will's and then toward the end she was back as his fiance.

I'm 99.9% sure it wasn't the same role.

like i said i saw I Got the Feelin 1st so i didn't know her "baby baby baby" was a reference to the prior 1. i think b/c the James song is my frame of reference for those scenes i prefer it.

plus i think "I Got the Feelin" is a better song.

i understand why Bill had them on the show, but it was all so far-fetched.

Not just Jazz, but Stevie Wonder, Mariam Mekaba (maybe I'm imagining that one though..although with imagining the spelling of the last name, as I know it's not correct) and a slew of others.

And Nancy Wilson (well, she's Jazz, I know) was Martin's mom, that's so wild.

Crazy right?

2. The episode where Theo got dude to cop to being the real owner of the weed his folks found. Yeah right.

3. Vanessa (nuff said)

4. They had a nigga name Elvin

5. Olivia being the cute Rudy replacement.

6. Calling someone cousin _______ (ie: "Hi cousin Pam" "Cousin Claire is going to be mad...")

Hmmm, I guess I was the only one that heard the rumor that Carl Payne got fired because he said something suggestive to Keisha Pulliam (Rudy, of course). I remember being told that Cosby himself had him fired because he contributed to the work enviroment being uncomfortable.

Someone else please tell me they heard this rumor as well.

Everytime a Cosby kid would come in the house, they would go into the fridge and grab one of those 10oz bottles of orange juice, open it and start drinking it in the midst of a conversation.

Firstly, wash your damn hands before you go in the fridge. The fridge is the most sacred part of the house...by now means should you be bringing random ass germs into the fridge...you'd think an Obstetrician would know to teach his kids about hygiene, for cryin out loud.

Where they get them from? Who gottem?

Claire, I guess, but wasn't no Shoppers club 'round that neiborhood, was dey?

Maybe they was.

Claire sure didn't--she was either at the office or bangin' Cliff.
The kids didn't--they were some dumbass motherfuckers, and I don't think they knew the difference between a mop and a bucket.
Cliff sure didn't--he was either bangin' Claire, delivering a baby or trying to eat a hoagie. Which usually led to Claire snatching it out of his hand and then leading him upstairs for more bangin'.

So, who the fuck cleaned that house?
27458, You know?

27465, RE: Things about The Cosby Show that made you go 'wtf'?
Posted by Thelonious73, Mon Apr-18-05 12:01 AM
What was funny to me was how they kept recycling actors & actresses.

I don't know the real names but...The Martin character (Denise's husband), "Bird" on Soul Food (TV version), weren't there more?
27466, Maybe 'cause I'm White, but how did those kids take so much
Posted by MANHOODLUM, Tue Apr-19-05 04:53 PM
verbal abuse.

Cliff used to PISS ME OFF with that shit.

I only bring up the white thing 'cause my friends used to say "Only White kids talk back to their parents".

Maybe that's true, I dunno, but Cliff ALWAYS had some smart-alekky shit to say, even with a serious question. I know Cosby was a commedian, but damn...there's a time to be a father.

Ok, Theo slacked sometimes, and Denise did some dumb shit, fine, I understand the quip every now and then.

Theo: "Dad, can we talk about something serious"

Cliff: *makes faces, rolls eyes, and gets laughs from audience* I...WILL SELL...YOU TO GYPSIES, THEO!!" *audience rolls in laughter as Theo looks down at the ground*

Atleast Claire got mad, and showed backbone...as well as brought a caring voice once in awhile.

I would've been like "You know what, dad? You got jokes, but your not fuckin funny. Try and be serious for once, or fuck off"

Sure she was a lawyer so she had bank, but nothing wrong with more bank. Combining bank.

And I'm sure there was a small amount of love involved...
