24529, The Greatest Beatdowns in movie history
Posted by Mudbone, Thu Jun-09-05 11:24 AM
In honor of Ne_atl avi(the Bruce Lee fight scene in Enter the Dragon where he beats down the dude who tried to rape his sister) I want to have some fun and what you folks think are the greatest beatdowns. And the beatdowns don't necessarily have to be by the hero, villians can get their props too.

Mine:

1)Enter the Dragon-the whole movie , Bruce just fucks fools up in that flick.
2)They Live- The ten minute fight scene. Enough said
3)Goodfellas- Henry beating down with a gun the fool who tried to pull a date rape on Karen.
4)Casino-Joe Pesci's character and brother getting whack in the desert. Still a painful scene for me to watch.
5)American History X- Curb biting scene . Damn.
6)Fight Club-Enough said

The Godfather - When Sonny whoops Carlo's ass in the street. Hit him with a trash can, and bit his fingers. Kicked him across the street into the fire hydrant.

Menace II Society -
"I think you better watch who you callin' a bitch, Potna."
"Well I think you better - " unloads a fury on him, and stomps the shit outta him.

SIG RIGHT HERE (even tho im wasting my 255 characters in telling you...)

>The Godfather - When Sonny whoops Carlo's ass in the street.
>Hit him with a trash can, and bit his fingers. Kicked him
>across the street into the fire hydrant.

Except for that one "punch" that misses Carlo's face by a good foot. His reaction and the sound effect make that part hilarious

One of the hardest to watch beatdowns is when Rollergirl fucked up that dude after he got booted out of the limo. Stmps the living shit out of him.
24532, lol yeah it's impossible to take that scene seriously

yeah, I was watching that the other day. skates to the face. that's rough. plus she left him with a hard on.

I'm pretty sure dude went limp pretty quick after that 1st skate 2 the face
24534, He missed the punch, but...
Posted by sithlord, Thu Jun-09-05 04:53 PM
On one of the documentaries on the making of The Godfather, Caan talks about injuring dude that played Carlo in that fight scene and not really caring. So that missed punch was probably the only missed blow during that scene.

i think the injuries came from the throwing of he dude into the garbage cans and over the fences, and sprawling him onto the pavement. i'm pretty sure most of those blows were cheoreographed. just the whole process was physical
24537, they live was the first to come to mind
Posted by DrNO, Thu Jun-09-05 11:44 AM
i love it. Seems like they couldn't stretch the film to 90 minutes and decided to just have the two of them beat the shit out of one another for 10 minutes.

I'll add the climactic battle of Master of the Flying Guillotine. Best finish ever.

What a great movie. Rowdy Roddy Piper and... Keith David wasn't it??

Smashing the furniture in his boss's office?

It's obviously not relevant to the movie at all, but that scene always makes me wonder if humans possess some reflex that would prevent them from kicking their own ass that thoroughly.

Frank gets fucked up in almost every thing he's in. Tony Soprano ran his ass into that garbage truck and then he got sent back to prison (thanks again, to Tony).
Maybe it's in his and Al Leong's contracts.

before Joe Clarke shows up, some random teacher is trying to break up a fight in the hall, and ends up getting his head slammed repeatedly into the floor. Its a quick one, but that shit always disturbed me for some reason.

some of mine:

ice cube vs devo in friday. he threw a brick at that motherfucker's face.

darth maul vs obi wan/qui gonn. padmi was like, uh yeah, well let you guys handle this. then they start disrobing. you know shit was on.

yoda vs count dooku. i waited a long time for that little motherfucker to get his lightsaber on.

r2d2 vs droid robots. didnt see that one coming. if he had jetpack abilities, why didnt he just fly over the swamp on degobah/everywhere else it would have come in handy?

neo vs morhpeus in the training cyberroom thing. i love that little "come hither" hand motion laurence uses.

the beatdown of greg kinnear in as good as it gets. what on earth was the point? they could have just run, but they were like, nah, robbing you after you were nice enough to pay me to paint my portrait wasn't enough, now it's time to fuck you up.

when we were kings. period

the sounds he makes when she's beating on him crack me up. It helps that he's out of frame at the time.

24632, BARRY LYNDON vs. his stepson. and Trainspotting
Posted by The Damaja, Mon Jun-13-05 05:17 PM
The bit when Barry Lyndon's throwing a party with all the aristocrats to try and secure his knighthood, and his stepson calls him out in front of everyone for the scumbag that he is. And he just loses it and unleashes the most brutal kidney blow of all time

and in Trainspotting when Begby glezzies that guy with his pint glass, because he bumped into him with a drink.
