15812, apologies Posted by janey, Sun Mar-31-02 07:44 AM
I didn't make myself clear.
As a woman and as a thinking person, I was completely offended by the film. I don't pretend to speak for black women, but I can only imagine that if, as a woman, I thought that the film as demeaning and degrading, it must be even more demeaning and degrading to watch if one is a black woman. If, as a thinking person, I found the story to be simplistic and pandering, then I can only imagine that as a thinking black person, it could only be more offensive.
I don't myself want to be "saved" by a man. I certainly don't want to be saved by a racist man. But that is just my opinion.
Peace.

May all beings be free from suffering.
May the merit of my meditation and any good acts I undertake be dedicated to the happiness and liberation of all beings.
