So did he go to prison or run?

I believe he ran. Was it the way he kept taking out the picture of he and his mom and dad when he was little, wanting so much that life again or was it the dog barking at the end of the credits that left you with the feeling that everything had come full circle and he was once again starting a new life.

What did Frank's character represent and didn't it just feel bad for him while he beat up on Ed Norton's character?
Was it the superficial side of America?
