115527, Studios don't see as much of overseas box office

Even domestically, they only make 100% of the opening box office, or maybe weeks 1 and 2 if it's a big film, but after that they start splitting the grosses. Plus, overseas is doubly taxed since you get taxed by that country AND the US. That's why Madea Goes to Jail can make a fraction of what MIB 3 made yet still be more profitable.

MIB III got itself out of the major hole that the domestic take (or lack thereof) put it in but it wasn't nearly as profitable for the studio as your "IT MADE 600 MILLION" seems to think. It finally did break even but it was a disappointment for what was supposed to be Will Smith's safe bet. Now that After Earth has put a studio in another hole, there's going to be extra attention given to Will's domestic box office because studios don't want to rely on overseas unless there's a huge profit to be made.

The bottom line is that if you don't think that MIB 3 and After Earth have put a dent on Will Smith's image as box office guarantee, you're blinded by your own agenda. I'm not saying that there aren't anti-Will people who are just as bad but you just aren't looking at the facts for what they are.
