KK remake did great cause of the mostly positive reviews and I think parents wanted to introduce the KK brand to their kids aka nostalgia.

That's what I'm saying. We all knew these cats were in no real danger in this flick cause Smiths don't die and always come out on top. Add to that the trailers made it look like a futuristic Planet Earth minus the beauty.
