1. We're talking science fiction. Not HARD science fiction, which takes great care to keep things as realistically plausable as possible, but summer blockbuster sci-fi.

2. In a sci-fi world, it's a perfectly plausable idea that the evolutionary process could accelerate for whatever reason. No, this doesn't need to be explained in the movie.

No, because literally no genre gives more creative license than sci-fi except fantasy. You do realize the SS Enterprise is pretty much impossible to build based on the sheer cost, right?
