114626, Nah, I'm giving the film it's props, I personally enjoyed it. Posted by spades, Thu Oct-10-13 12:36 PM
I ain't gonna act like it was a great film tho. It wasn't.
>Right, because the best Kung Fu flicks of all time had >stellar acting dialogue
This is the intentionally bad argument. Doesn't work for Death Trap, and doesn't work here either. > >The dialogue and acting were perfectly fine
agree to disagree - there's room for differing viewpoints. > >Visually I thought it was quite well done and >>the STORY in and of itself while a tad cliche was well done >>IMO> > >"Cliche?" > >You're joking, right? > >Its a tribute, throwback film with some awesome wrinkles >added to the classic format of Kung Fu film
Again, itentionally bad argument. I don't find it valid. > >There's a black angle, a women's empowerment angle...its >like, the perfect type of throwback
Oh I LOVED all that. Again, I said the story was a TAD cliche, but overall well done. I LIKED the plot. But I gotta call a spade a spade. > > >They won't, because white hipsters tore it down because a >"rapper" directed it
I'm actually kinda sad about this. I REALLY think a sequel is in order. > >This is what Kanye is bitching about, btw > >When you're a rapper, you aren't respected as an artist >and even when you do good stuff people invent ways to shit >on your work >
Again, on principle, I agree. I don't feel it applies to me tho. I'm judging him fairly and I'm a HUGE Kung Fu movie buff. But to pretend that Chinese Connection is a better film than Fist of Legend is just nostalgia and wrong. Kung Fu movies have moved on from the 'homage' he was trying to do and for a reason, IMO.
