We saw that he moves to NH before he ever does and winds up alone
We saw he comes back on his 52nd birthday
We saw him buy a big ass gun, go to his now condemned house and pick up the Ricin.
As the season progressed we knew the gun was for the Nazi group
The Ricin had some questions to it, but the real purpose of the ricin in this show was to convince Jesse to help kill Gus, it still had to be used but it was already used for it's big reason.
The rest of the season was filling in the gaps of how that all happened and then wrapping up how the story ends. The show was about twist and turns but the ending was not, the ending was laid out for us to just enjoy the ride.
