Carmela is an interesting comparison, as she not only enjoyed, but also purposely wielded the bit of power she being married to Tony Soprano gave her, all while shitting all over Tony for his complete lack of moral fiber. He pointed it out himself- she had a chance to marry someone else and live the sort of middle class life she always claimed she'd be perfectly happy with, but it was obvious that such an existence would not be enough.

Skylar is different in that she showed herself to be OK with a mundane way of life, but she still chose to take part in it while feigning some moral high ground she really has little footing on.

If the only conclusion she can arrive at is that this is due to a desire for women to be silent, do as they're told, and stand by their men, then she really doesn't get it.

She made a statement that shows that she DOES grasp the bigger picture, but she kinda glosses over it in passing.

Naturally, people will feel more empathetic toward the main character by default.... no shit. Which means, she's not going to be judged by the same standard as Walt, also by default. She's being judged by her decision to participate while shitting on him for his actions.

When people choose to participate, they lose all moral high ground to admonish their counterparts. Yeah, Walt's the bad guy, but he's the main character we're all following through this and there's a natural tendency to root for the main character despite his flaws.

As far as the loonies talking about killing Anna Gunn, the weirdos who cannot separate the character from the actress, that's another issue entirely.
