Blame the people who didn't take the time to vote. I try to get more people to vote every goddamn year.

Second of all, there are nominations for independent films every year. This year isn't that different. At all. A few passionate defenders for a picture or performance usually get it on the ballot.

Third of all, foreign films are bigger this year everywhere, not just on the boards. So though it's an anomaly, it's technically an annual anomaly.

Fourth of all, the film you hate doesn't win. So poor guesswork, lol.
