Which is what I thought. Yet the way it was presented, we were supposed to feel "good" that one of the Borden twins ended up being free and getting his daughter back (of course, it's not even really clear whether the surviving twin is relaly the father).

Both the movie seemed to absolve the Bordens for killing Angier's wife because Angier lets his obsession consume him and Borden never pretends to be something he isn't. I didn't buy it.
