102519, I saw it at Mann's Chinese 6 on Sat. night. I was expecting the same. Posted by bignick, Sun Jun-03-07 02:50 PM
But folks were actually pretty well-behaved.
>I was grinning from the Universal logo onward >(Using ODB's Shimmy Shimmy Ya, featuring the lyric "Ooo baby, >I like it raw" is a funny joke in and of itself)
When I heard "nigger you can't even sing" I almost jumped up out of my seat and started Negro-moshing like we used to do to Onyx back in college. That whole opening sequence was perfect.
>I thought Leslie Mann stole the movie
She's got some serious chops. Her and Craig Robinson going toe to toe outside of that club was classic.
>And Heigl is damn pretty... but it's an odd, awkward kind of >pretty to me
It's like she was created in a factory. So, I recognize that she's attractive, but she just doesn't do much for me. Kind of like how I feel about the Toyota Camry.
>My initial reaction was that it wasn't as funny as 40 Year-Old >Virgin, but like I said, I have to see it again in a more >civilized setting just to be sure
I feel the same way. But then again, I thought Virgin was one of the best comedies of the past 20 years.
>I agreed with a review that said it would have been nice to >see if Alison had any friends, beside those three catty chicks >she saw outside the baby store
That takes Apatow further away from what he clearly does best. Writing hilarious grown up slacker guy dialogue. Pass.
>Also, no love for Ryan Seacrest's rant? I thought it was >funnier than just "Ooh, Ryan Seacrest's CUSSIN'!"
I just kept thinking, "Damn. Seacrest might weigh less than Katherine Heigl."
