100938, Why Patch Adams Worked! (the doc wore clown shoes) - Tom Shadyac
Posted by Big Chief Rumbletummy, Thu Mar-29-07 03:17 PM

America's premier director of funny ha-has, Tom "Don't call me Slim" Shadyhack, once again shows us why HE is the man to call when you need a director just to show up and turn the cameras on! "Terrible Tom" takes us inside and upside down and diagonally through his triumphical 1998 masterpiece "Patch Adams", a film some believe to be the finest representation of American cinema in the past 50 years, and reveals to us just how gets his creative juices juicin and is responsible for the stunning visual work he brought to: Ace Ventura, The Nutty Professor, and, of course, Patch Adams.

No other director working today can yell "Action!" and "Cut" at the beginning of improvised zaniness quite like Mr. Shittyac can! This book at long last settles all doubts as to who made the ingenious decision for Robin Williams to don the clown nose* which , believe it or not, was NOT called for in the scripted material!! Hindsight, of course, now reveals what a monumentally wise choice that was, but there was once a time that a clown nose-free Patch Adams existed. Truly a world I would not choose to inhabit.

* = The clown nose in question, the numismatic nasal nicety now known amongst Hollywood Insiders and Studio Big-Wigs as "The Nose", is currently enshrined in a place of appropriate prominence, atop a bejeweled velour pillow inside a temperature-controlled 1/2" thick box of bullet-proof glass at the "Shits N Giggles Hall of Fame" located on Route 12, just outside of Patchquilt, Texarkansasaw.

(As if you didn't already know that!!).
