i think this is one of the biggest reasons i enjoy foreign movies so much. especially movies spoken in pretty languages (italian, portuguese, french, shit, even spanish can be pretty compared to english). u can concentrate on the music and dynamics of the sound of the language and enjoy the written word as a separate visual component. its a really deep thing, imo.

but i dont know if subtitles can "mask" bad or awkward dialogue. i think even a moviegoer paying average attention can tell when dialogue (in action) is bad/awkward or decent to good even in a foreign film.
