Spike Lee did the Mars Blackmon Nike thing, Scorsese did a bit for American Express too, right? And Spike Jonze teamed up with Adidas? What other big name directors?

As far as local ads, any person that tries to incorporate dogs into selling cars should be dismantled at the limbs. People in the Bay Area ("Muttley") and Sacramento (Chuck Peterson) should know what I mean.
