i think rachel dawes was MEANT to be a dull character...someone that you clearly feel a distance which is the perfect metaphor between her and bruce wayne

even though in this movie she has an important role, the fact that maggie and katie played her so much the SAME WAY makes me believe that her character is intentionally suppose to be the way it's portrayed (both of them are rather good actresses in spite)
