>>3. City of God- 1295

>I liked City of God. But I never thought it was *this* good. I
>think the setting had a lot to do with people's reactions
>towards it.

Cosign. It made my 100 (at # 89), but # 3? Holy shit.

>>13. The Usual Suspects- 960
>
>Wow. Yikes.

I had it at # 16. This movie was dope as fuck. I take it you didn't like it?

>>18. Rushmore- 827
>
>Never understood the appeal of this movie either. I've watched
>it like three times on cable, too.

Cosign. It's good, but not top 20 in the last 25 years good. Come on.

>>20. The Incredibles- 790
>
>On the record: Pixar's most overrated film.

Incredibles was very cool, but for me, it got cut even before I started giving out honorable mentions. Should be Top 200, though.

As for overratedness, the insane Wall-E adulation is getting close (although I haven't seen it yet, so maybe it's worthy...but I doubt it).

>>21. Batman Begins- 780
>
>WOW!

Yeah, that's high. I had it at 97. I had The Dark Knight at 91 (OKP put it at 110) - can't believe it's so low compared to Batman Begins, but maybe everyone hasn't seen it yet.

Wait, are 2008 movies supposed to be included? If so, that's actually a 26 year window (1983-2008). If not, we need to take them out...

>>22. Lord of the Rings Trilogy- 764
>
>I honestly can't imagine anybody who read the books first
>thinks highly of the movies. Not that they were bad, but they
>just pale in comparison. I mean, you might as well put the
>Harry Potter movies up here.

I disagree. I read and love the books, but I still loved the movies. The books are better, of course, but isn't that almost always the case? The movies were still among my favorites (I ranked the trilogy at # 6).

>>25. Ghostbusters- 722
>
>Count me as someone who liked the sequel better.

No way...

>>27. LA Confidential- 717
>
>Very boring to me.

Wow, I thought it was cool as shit, original and very entertaining. I can't really see how it's boring...

>>37. Memento- 595
>
>Sorry jigga, I really did not like this one.

Wow, I had it at exactly 37. Guess you're in the minority on this one, Will.

>>41. Miller’s Crossing- 552
>
>Scratch Fargo -- *this* is the Coens' most overrated film.

I disagree, but then, I didn't even like Fargo. I liked this flick MUCH better than Fargo, yet it still didn't make my top 200.

>>42. Forrest Gump- 547
>
>LOL I can't fucking stand this movie.

I had this one at exactly 42, so this seems right to me. lol
I don't get why people would hate it. Too schmaltzy?

>>48. Anchorman- 501
>
>Old School murders this film!

I agree that Oldschool is much better, but neither one is really top 100 material. They're both too uneven.

>>54. Boyz N The Hood- 486
>
>bah. Menace is SOOOO much better.

I can kinda see that argument (although I had Boyz at 72 and Menace at 94), but Boyz in the Hood came first, so some could argue that Menace was a ripoff. I agree that Menace has more replayability and has aged better, but Boyz had a bigger impact and is more universally appealing.

>>89. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert
>>Ford- 369
>
>I must've seen a different movie than everybody else. Very
>plain and boring. Good score tho.

I thought it was really great. Normally I don't go for slow movies, but this one I really enjoyed.

>Biggest Top 100 omissions:
>
>>109. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles- 311 ----- my number 99
>>120. A Christmas Story- 285 ------------------- I never loved this one.
>>135. Murderball- 260 -------------------------- never seen it
>>157. National Lampoon’s Vacation- 217 --------- Christmas is better
>>164. Happy Gilmore- 208 ----------------------- an honorable mention for me
>>193. Beauty and the Beast- 173 ---------------- WTF?

IMO, these are the biggest omissions from the top 200 (I haven't really perused OKP's 101-200 yet, I just did a search for my top 50 movies):

- Natural Born Killers. I fucking love this movie, but it's nowhere to be found.

- Grindhouse. Yeah yeah, some people think it's shit. I enjoyed that movie more than anything I'd seen in the theater since Sin City.

- Star Wars III and II. Sure, Phantom Menace was kinda crap, but the other two were great. Yes, the love story sucked and the acting was kinda bad, but I loved movies overall.

- The Machinist and Equilibrium. Two Bale movies that were simply cool as shit. I wonder if people saw these and didn't like them, or haven't seen them?

- Face/Off. Perhaps a bit cheesy, but a damn good action movie.

- Clueless. How can you not love this movie? Clever, witty, funny, and a cultural landmark.

- Heathers. Do other people not think this movie is brilliant and funny?

Also, Better Off Dead! I even forgot about this movie, but it probably should have been in my top 100.
