I mean, if you best somebody in a match of wits, the victory is a pretty hollow one, or a vague one, at best. Some people are so ignorant that they won't even realize it once they've received said mental beat down... so all you're left with is a funny little story to tell your snarky little nerd friends later on IRC. And that's no fun.

But when you *physically* beat someone down, well, it's just a lot more direct. There's no mistaking an ass whooping. None of that "I don't get it" or "What's THAT supposed to mean?" business. It's sort of the universal language.

I'm by no means a violent man but I can appreciate its salience.
