that's how i feel for the most part. make other things occupy kids time so they don't really worry about the tv, but when they do watch things deemed unacceptable simply talk to them about it, without freaking out "NO! don't watch that!!" just explain it to them. kids are impressionable and influenced by the radio and tv, but they're not too stupid to be able to think critically about those things if their parents raise them to do so.
