the news last night was knocking on islamic countries for repressing american pop culture, but i think they're right and they're smart to do it.

my parents forbade me to watch mtv and soaps, but i found a way. my mom always told me what it was that she dissapproved of, and i often tried to see it from her point of view. because of that, i was able to grow out of it early and avoid it like the plague afterwards.

i want to do the same with my own children- show them a better way- not buy cable- and then hope that our honesty and discussions lead her to know better.

mostly i want my daughter to grow into a proud & healthy woman despite pop culture
