The problem is when we agree with the messages or images. I am not a feminist but I support changing certain negative images of women because I am a Black woman and I work with and support young people, i.e. teen girls.

Many of the young ladies I work with are attracted to the anger. They like having a roughneck, esp. if there was no father around. My Pops was a thug in some ways. He was very angry and very abusive on occasion. Being around him greatly lessened any need I had for that kind of energy. I don't attribute the anger to manhood or masculinity. I recognize the need to have both, a balance. The problem is that so many of us are unbalanced.
