It usually makes it worse. My father tried to scare me but I was always looking for his porn mags when he wasn't home. :-) I was a regular ol' girl and boys were showing me their penises by the time I was 7 (seriously). My sexual exploration was sort of discouraged by my father but not by my mother. She gave me my first sex guide (for teens) when my menstrual cycles started (age 10). That early knowledge encouraged me to keep my legs shut until college.

The best I can do is talk about what is happening to her body, what she feels and what sex is about...a little bit at a time. I've gotten some training through my work and know just how far to go. I let her lead me and I fill in some of the blanks.
