Rumi is the shakespeare of Islam, it's mystical poetry. Incredible beauty. Coleman Barks' translations are the best so far.
if you read ABOUT rumi & his mentor/role model Shams of tabriz, you might see a bit of your humanity in the story, and thus understand Islam.
An entire culture was founded on the poetry of Rumi.... these are the Whirling dervishes.
