yeah the Ethiopian Jews are largely treated pretty shabbily in Israel, and there was a lot of reluctance in the Israeli government to bring them over... but at the end of the day they did it, which is more than you can say for most other countries. Including Ethiopia, which treated them worse than Israel does.

And they are given full citizenship - you're probably thinking of the Black Hebrew Israelites who moved from the US to Israel in the 70's or something, they were given residence but not citizenship, although I think recently some of them were granted citizenship.
