How did WTC 7 collapse vertically/symmetrically when no plane hit?

It is amazing that jet fuel can burn hot enough to melt tons of steel concrete but it did not prevent some people from above the crash zones to escape the towers. I also forgot to mention that the jet fuel fires failed to melt numerous people seen flagging for help in and around crash zones also.
