after using A-bombs on Japan the
invasion would still be necessary,
anyway, as opposed to the belief
that using atomic bombs on Japan
would make the mainland invasion
unnecessary (David Lilienthal, The
Journals of David E. Lilienthal,
Volume Two, pg. 198).
