the problem exists in the question. how can you have an ideal for millions of people? you never
hear what is the "ideal" white/chinese/latino/czechoslavakian/eskimo show, so why should there be (or how could there be) one that will
satisfy everyone in a culture this diverse. we as a people need to stop buying into the idea that we
have monolithic ideologies because there is no "common" black person.

if folk would concentrate on making the best show they can and remaining true to their vision of whatever they are trying to say (as opposed to doing whatever for the sake of a check), it will either sink or fly. those who
like it will support, those who don't won't. whichever side has the largest grouping will ultimately
win.

there is an old saying about how if you try to satisfy everyone, you'll end up satisfying no one.
