>>Christianity was not forced on Africans. If you remember we were brought here as slaves and to work. The white man could have cared less what religion we embraced. They wouldn't have forced the Bible on them if anything which embraces harmony among all people.>>

You can't be serious. Not only was it forced on African slaves, but the same could most certainly be said for African people on the continent herself (via missionaries, etc.). As soon as the boats docked, anxious "masters" went to work renaming African "slaves": Ezekiel, David, Martha--you know--straight from the good book. The ancestors were beat and tortured for speaking in their native tongue and often times killed for practicing "heathen" ceremonies or rituals--Murdered in the name of what was "right" and used as examples for those who dared to embrace their OWN culture...It is certainly understandable why black folks are so convinced today...That's all I have to say for now...

"We live the now for the promise of the infinite" --Mos Def

"I'm tryin' to soar to altitudes unknown to man, woman or the most agile of birds" --yours truly

"your people first. a quiet strength. the positioning of oneself so that observation becomes reaction, where study is preferred to night life, where emotion is not seen as a weakness. love for self, family, children and extensions of self is beyond the verbal"
