as far as I've seen, the Muslim north has disenfranchised and tried to economically and otherwise destroy the Nubian South. Period.
Slavery exists in the Sudan. Period.
It can be good/bad, religious/secular, whatever. There are a million reasons for the "why," but the facts are there, regardless.
