#1. Just because people don't subsidize a poor community doesn't mean they don't give back.

#2. Study economics, it's not really possible for any Business to just do Business with one type of people. Whites can sort of do it, but that's because they're the biggest chunk of the population. It's not really possible for Blacks, we need to bring in economic strength from outside the community by selling goods & services and working with White Businesses.

#3. A Rich Athlete giving 80% of his 200 million dollar contract in the form of loans and subsidies isn't neccessarily going to do anything but teach people to live off of susidies. What needs to happens it that people have to get a point where they don't need help. E.g. Black Farmers don't need to be subsidized, Small Business Owners can fend for themselves, etc.

Furthermore, folks are still going to be salty.....because that athlete is going to have to evaluate each application and make sure he can get his money back....AND he doesn't have money like a Bank......so he can only give so many loans.

A Rich Athlete subsidizing folks, does not teach self reliance, It teaches "look for a handout". Human Nature, if you start giving out dough and not making people work for it or teaching them how to make it themselves......you'll get taken advantage of and in the end....you're the one in trouble.

Just Ask Hammer.....who tried to subsidize his community....giving money away....giving people jobs just because, etc......he gave too much and went bankrupt.

#4. Why should rich Blacks take it upon themselves to personally finance the economic elevation of others? They can lend *some* support & *some* economic help...but you're asking them to just finance it all together. Life doesn't work that way, people may help you, but you gotta do it yourself.

Furthermore, it's their money......why can't they enjoy it....particularly when giving back on the level you want.....would

Rich Blacks should be teaching poor Blacks how to do it themselves, not writing them a check.

#5. Let's be real, if you're going to invest in a poor community (without gentrifying it and forcing some folks out) you could loss your money....it's hard to get a return on your investment in an economically depressed area.

Check out the latest issue of Inc. Magazine, it spotlights the top 100 inner city Businesses. Now these Businesses help out the community.....some what.....but they're not really vehicles for economic empowerment. Most the people who work at these companies and live in the area, make about 24k/year, and the companies just maintain status quo.......they don't really help people elevate.

If you have a real estate company that buys up and rents out inner city homes, that doesn't really help people. Yeah, they have a nicer place to live.....but YOU get rich....not those people. They still don't own their home and it's not helping them to become economically empowered.

This issue is much larger then a Black supermarket or giving people working class jobs, it just makes things more bearable....but doesn't change the lack of economic strength.

Peace,
